I have a 2002 sport suspension model and needed to take it from Palm desert, CA to Houston five years ago. As soon as I entered Texas, at El Paso, on I10, I noticed a posted speed of 85 MPH. I figured what the heck and set the cruise at 95. Drove all the way to San Antonio that way. Got 24 miles per gallon.

Could never ask for a better driving car. I always go out of my way to maintain and change fluids. Tires were just OK at the time.

No reason to cruise over 100 mph in the US. Wind up in prison.

This is why the 98-00 LS400 is the "fastest" LS. They will get right up to their 155 (I think) mph limiter quite easily.

Nah, a 430 will do 165+ but crawls once past 150

A 460 can easily do 160+

I know, just saying stock for stock the 98-00 will be the fastest given the 430/460 130mph limiter

Sure. But it would lose to a 460 from a launch and have a severely hard time catching it at all even with the 15 mph top speed advantage.

It's so easy to remove the limiter though that it doesn't matter, the 400 is the slowest of the LSs

Doing 100 mph in the LS is a non issue assuming road conditions and driver skill level is appropriate. A couple of years ago I saw a utube of folks in the Mideast somewhere doing 165 mph in an LS430, at night, stereo going full blast. ...on a dark desert highway...
