Default Elimiate Speed Governer on '05 LS430?

Is there a way to get rid of the 131mph governer top speed limit on an '05 LS430?

Thanks!

I dont think I would want to be riding in an LS going any faster than 100 or so. Thats a heavy car that would get flipped off the road with a big bump at that speed.

It's somewhat stable.

Make sure you get appropriate tires.

I do not like to take the LS430 any higher than 120, the suspension gets a little hairy when the surfaces aren't smooth like some of the more expensive tracks. Even in sport mode.

I still think the S-Class and 7er are much better at supercruising speeds, but it's very rare that you can do that in America

Thanks in advance.

I've found the LS430 very stable, although I have not taken it above 120. I can't imagine it being less stable than my '97 LS400 at the same speeds, and I've found that stable when taken up to shutoff.

Just curious - but has anyone verified the speed limitations of the other drivetrain parts?

I know tires have a speed rating - but I'm talking about transmission, torque converter, drive shaft, etc...

I know I know - how can I make this comparison.. but bear with me: A few cars back, I owned a '96 T-bird V8. On the T-bird message boards people wanted to get rid of the governor on those also. Sadly, it was set to a pathetic 105mph! It turns out the torque converter & drive shaft couldn't withstand the higher RPMs or something. People would upgrade them with the Lincoln Mark VIII TC & driveshafts.

Lexus tends to over-engineer their vehicles (especially the LS) - but all I'm getting at is that the speed limitation might be there for a reason other than to keep you from going fast.

It is my understanding that the governer is not present in certain markets (like Abu-Dhabi), and that the cars are otherwise nearly identical. It is my understanding that Lexus does not make different drivetrain components for different markets.

Ahh - I did not realize that. Have at it and let us know what she'll do!

Yikes, why

I would thinks its would be pretty rare in most roads here in the US to get any extended speed that high. Maybe a burst here and there. Realistically, to build up speed that fast and to slow down without extensive braking, it would be a good 3 to 4 miles of "nice" clear stretch. I've done it in other cars before up to 140mph but it does get very hairy as you are risking your life and others on the road. Please be safe.

There are a few products that will remove the speed limiter.

1. One of them is the SLD or the Speed Limit Defencer made by HKS. I'm not sure if they make one for 3UZ engines. http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=781

Think it would work on a 3UZ?

If you have a sport suspension model or have it on good coilover is cruising at 100 plus miles an hour is smooth
