Default 01 LS430 Ultra Trade in Price?

Hi
So new baby here and looking to possibly trade in the 01 ls430 ultra with 72k miles on it. I got Galves price (which makes me ill) but when I went to 4 dealers they were pricing it at 11k, 15k, 16k, 16k. Are they serious? This was a 65k car. Ok it is a bunch of years old but I thought I would get Galves book prices. I feel like i am on Mars! What is a fair price... car is mint.
thanks
Kevin

Don't settle....Rallye Lexus in Glen Cove is selling a 01 for $22900 and it is not a UL, plus it has over 70k. Yes, I know the "preowned" (used) car dealers can get a little more by stating there cars are certified (this one is not....too many miles) and they back it with a warranty, some you pay for, some given by the state. But if your UL is in truly indeed in mint condition and the miles are that low, wait for it. Especially if you have the maintenance records. Someone will come along willing to pay at least 18k or 19k or might even go as high 20k (which is a stretch. A friend of mine is a use car dealer and he told me at the auction, 01's are going for 17k-19k all depending on condition and options. And those cars are in the 100,000 mile range). Those dealers will take that car and turn it around for real good PROFIT!!!!!!

I was shopping all over the net because I just bought this week. An '01 Ultralux with that relatively low milage should get you ~$18k at a minimum, $19-20k if you write well.

If you're selling on the internet, you can get a leg up on the competition by writing an ad that doesn't look like it was written by a 3rd grader. I don't know how many generic ads I went through that said absolutely nothing about the car aside from, "this car has V8, ABS, power windows, AM/FM cassette, etc." Hardly mentioned anything about being an ultralux or any of the available options. Most of the pictures were equally poor. Write a good description that makes it look like you actually cared about the car you're selling, talk up the good points, and take some pics that make it look pristine.

Sorry so long winded. I just got really frustrated that people who were selling these knew absolutely nothing about them and basically made no attempt to tell me anything. It took me a long time to find the one I wanted.

Kosmo101: Club Lexus, Craigslist, Autotrader, local newspaper, etc are all good options. I, myself, have been looking for an LS 400/430 that is priced fairly thru CL/Craigslist.
PM sent. Thanks.

All the above ways of selling a car works. When I posted a for-sale ad for an LS400 in 2003 on bulletin boards where I work (700+ employees), a number of people were interested - I sold it to a coworker who saw the ad. When I put a for-sale sign in the car's side window the same day, I had a full price offer within five minutes from a guy who was painting my neighbor's house. If your car really is "mint" and you have maintenance documentation, it should be easy to sell.

We've sold cars to friends and relatives too. People who know me like to buy my cars since they know how I take care of them. I've got a waiting list for my current LS. The easiest way to sell a car is to sell it to people who know and trust you.

Baby on the way? Looking to trade your LS for a minivan? A low mileage LS like yours still has lots of relatively trouble free miles left in it. The $17-$21K or so that you are going to get of it in a private sale isn't going to buy much if you are looking to buy new.

Trading in a car is almost always a painful financial move. The only cars we have traded in were real dogs (e.g. P.O.S. Mercedes) that we wouldn't have wanted to ask anybody to buy.

This person just bought a 02' LS430 UL with 45k miles and looks to be in excellent condition. Price was $22k.

That might give you an idea how much yours LS430 worth.

Amazing how prices drop.. A year ago trade in value was $26000 or so. The '01 UL I picked up for $26800 was a steal.

As amazingly nice the LS UL is, it is still just a regular car, and a Japanese car at that. Actually resale value of the LS is already better then normal.

Look at used Mercedes prices, those drops insanely fast, mint condition 06' AMG S65 are only worth 38% of the new MSRP!

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...=&cardist=1178

A 06' LS430 with the same mileage and condition as that S65 still worth 63% of the new MSRP, now you feel better about Lexus huh!
