What is everyone's average gas mileage? (The Mother thread)

for you guys that your display in the dash constantly shows low MPG numbers -
Be sure to reset your data especially "avg mph" and also "avg mpg" after refueling - I reset mine right after fill up and when I am driving on the most level part of the hwy/interstate doing about 60/70. I do this because for some reason my "avg mph" will get stuck on 27-35 mph even when im on the interstate for some time. so I try to be sure and reset that before I leave the house and I seem to get more accurate MPG readings. it will usually jump from 21 - 26/27 on the interstate and stay there when I do the reset. I just like to know what my MPG is often on different stretches of road and weather conditions.

Just completed a 790 mile round trip from Phoenix to Disneyland. Drove the interstate and set the cruise 5 mph above the speed limit, which means a goodly portion of the trip was at 80 mph. Four adults and luggage on board. Waxed the car prior to the trip and install bra and mirror bras (the textured surface probably reduced the Cd by a small amount). Computed an overall average of 26.03 mile per gallon by using distance and actual fuel used (91 octane). The round trip allows the difference in altitudes and wind to be accounted for. This car is just a super cruiser.

with a cD of .26 (.25 for UL with air), this car is almost like a bullet through the air. That attributes to it's quietness too and I'm sure lends much to the 26 mpg that many enjoy (including myself) on highways and at 70mph+. You would probably not get the same results by putting the same engine and trans. in say a RX.

What kind of fuel economy are you getting?
I do about 40 minutes of highway commuting per day and a little bit of around town driving and I'm tank averaging 18.5 mpg in my 2002 LS430 with premium fuel. This seemed pretty low considering how gently I drive the car. There was a fuel economy thread in the FAQ but the link is dead. What is everyone else getting for fuel mileage?

What's your elevation Notwealthy? This also plays a roll. Honestly, it just may be you spend more time driving slow or stopped then you realize. If you reset your average mpg and can get 26 or 27 on the highway then she is about as efficient as it will get.

My 75 percent hwy drive to work and back usually comes out to high 24 ish on my 04 Sport. My 04 premium was around upper 23ish. Only difference 17 versus 18 tires. Is Sport model lower to the ground? Don't think so.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but my MPG has been terrible. Usually around 16-17mpg since getting the car. Granted I'm in Texas where it has been about 100 since getting it but I'm not sure how that effects it.
