i am looking at the new (er) 600hL's and i want to know why they get less mpg's then our 430's do???????????????????????????????
Just for grins, I compared fuel costs of my current LS430 (averaging 25 MPG overall on premium fuel) v. a Lincoln MKZ Hybrid (said to be able to average 40 MPG on regular by owners). Assuming fuel costs of $5/gal premium and $4.80/gal regular at 18K miles per year, I would save $120 a month. If I bought the MKZ at Z plan price and sold my LS at KBB private party price, it would take 56 months of fuel savings to pay for the change to a smaller, less powerful, less comfortable vehicle, with a tiny trunk.
Just took a 2200 mile round trip to Orlando from the Philly area. We averaged 23.2 MPG with Regular Fuel driving a constant 78 MPH where possible with our 02' 430. I wanted to use 94 octane on the return trip to measure the differance but I forgot
Good Mileage compared to my 94' LS 400 which struggled to deliver 20 MPG with 94..
2006 LS430-Round trip to Chicago with 1200 road miles; 500 suburban and just over 27 mpg on premium fuel. 70 mph on Interstate with the AC on the whole time. Not quite what I was getting with my former A6 Audi FWD V-6 but pretty darned good for a V-8 powered big ol' girl!
