Trade in Value?
It's a sad day today because i am seriously starting to consider getting a new car. However i was suprised when i loged onto kbb.com to find out that the 430's trade in value is $32,000 even with 70,000 miles on it. Just somthing i though i should post .

well...i hate to burst your bubble but....you wont get no where near kbb for any car in the north east....all dealers and auctions go by the book called GALVES.
the value for your car is around 26500.....i wont be suprised if they start from 25000 and bring it to 26500....

galves on a 04 with decent miles....40k would be around 24 depending on the options as well...if it is a ultra lux car then it would be close 25!!

25k for an 04. Nice.. I feel an ls430 in my future, maybe even a UL.
I thought I was going to have to pay up close to 28 for one of these and that is with hard negotiation.
I think because of the economy, the used luxury car market, used car market in general is a buyers market. I hear there are so many cars on the lots down in real estate torn areas like florida, the dealers don't know what to do.
Finally, I can make these dealers pay!

Thanks! Now I know why dealers quote much lower than KBB and NADA. But the trade-in value from KBB, for my car, is so sad already. I don't even wanna check at Galves.. but I guess I have to.

Thanks to JDMuscle, I just subscribed to GALVES, online.
I am deeply shocked to learn of my own car's current trade-in value.
To learn if GALVES really reflect the real world prices. I should take my car to be appraised at CAR4CASH places, where they will buy your car and give you cash on the spot, at wholesale prices.
But here's an example: 2004 LS430+Luxury Package with 60,000 miles (see picture for trade-in price. "Market ready price" is the price a dealer will pay for a 2004 LS430 that need absolutely NO reconditioning whatsoever, except maybe a car wash, not even a polish and wax or detailing. Basically, it's the kind of car that used car dealers can put it on the lot with very little or no preparation-which is extremely rare).
Isn't $20,100 too low for this car? Or is this really the real world's trade-in value.
Notice that GALVES expects the mileage for this car to be 41,000 miles (as of today), anything more than that, they deduct massively! A 04 LS430 w/ Lux.package with 41,000 miles today would yield $23,300 at trade-in instead iof $20,100.
You don't wanna know how much they appraised my 2002 LS430 with just NAV and ML and 60,000 miles.

You might get a good idea by checking CarMax. I just bought my 2002 LS 430 at their store here in San Diego 3 weeks ago. KBB was $29k. It is in immaculate condition and only has 42k mi. I paid just under $23k. We are completely satisifed with this car.....naturally.
They advertise their prices at "no dicker" wholesale, and their listings seem to fit that. Much lower than the other dealers in the area.
Good luck!

You may be able to get a good price for your car at carmax. They seem to pay more than a dealer would for a tradein. It doesn't actually take that long for them to appraise it.
I find that as a car dealer, car max is not the greatest deal. You can't haggle, and since we are in a very soft car market right now, walking in with cash to a regular dealer and saying "take it or leave it," I think would yield a better deal than carmax.
I plan on buying a 04 ls 430, with Custom luxury, if I can find one, and if the dealer is advertising the price for the absurd price of $30k, I will offer $24k. Hopefully the market is soft enough, I can get this kind of deal.
KBB is very off these days, and if a certain car is coming off lease, ex. a 2005 infinity g35, the kbb is off by like 4k.
Dealers try and inflate the price by colluding on autotrader. Good deals can be got right now, if you are a buyer of course.
What would be a great piece of info, is past data on car lease "specials", to know when a car's lease is up, which would cause a flood of those cars on the market.

the bottom is quickly falling out from under the 430s right now, not sure when it will settle down, i am looking to pick up a nice 04 model for my new driver, but i am going to wait cause there is not end in sight to the dramatic drop in value

I totally agree, I don't see it ending, almost like the real estate market. Who on earth is going to buy a 4 year old 30k car right now?
Some of these car's asking prices on autotrader puzzle me.
This place doesn't have an ls for under 30k, http://www.autolenders.com/, supposed off lease, straight from the bank.
Yes they are all pretty low mileage but 75 cars to unload. ??

see...thats the real trade in value of our cars!!...yes off course if you go to the auction you might end up paying a little more cause...the auction charges a fee and the dealer is gonna bang you out for another couple of hundred bucks...all said and done...a good deal on a 04 LS with decent miles should be in the mid 20's!!
