Thanks everyone. You are a group of afficianados, Lexus fanatics, "priests" and "psychiatrists." I'll likely stay with the LS. I'd probably cry leaving it behind at the dealership.

Bigcory!
Forgot about all of us individuals who's interest is set on an LS....
I'm pretty sure you already know the answer to your question....listen to your gut and you'll end up happy. Thats really all thats important. There are a lot of people that purchase S Class's, LS's, Jags, etc. and then end up selling/trading them in. It is your self you need to make happy first.

Last year, I drove the '07 ES350, the LOANER, for two full days. OK, wasn't long at all. But at the end of Day Two, I couldn't wait to get back into my '02LS430!
I'm 6'0". Visibility, for some reason, is very important to me, the rear window of the ES350 is small because of long sloping roof. Visibility no good. Engine? Quick, not bad, but it's slower than the LS's V8, as well as quite a bit louder at full throttle. Not to mention the front-drive feeling, the car pulling you, instead of the LS's rear-drive pushing you forward.
Yes, ES350's newer, looks more modern, smells better, has push-button start, tiptronic, easier to manouver around town. But I bet you'd rather take the LS on days you want to relax and cruise. Not to mention the interior space you get in the LS430.
No, I'm not saying the ES is a bad car, I'm just saying that the 05 LS430 is a MUCH NICER car than the '08 ES350.
I just got the RX350 as another loaner today, still, I'd take my '02 LS430 over both the '07 ES350 and RX350.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=278344 ( i said sth. about ES350 vs. LS430 )
The LS.... is the choice. The '08 LS460 is even a better choice. But if I have the guts to spend the cash, I'd try a Quattroporte. Anyone else? Let's say, 3-yr maintenance free, free labor, free parts...

The Quattroporte is a whole couple levels higher in terms of price and depreciations, due to their reliability, like you said, you have to buy them new and be able to afford the 50% depreciation in the first 3 years. Sure they are nice if you can afford them. But if it is my money, if I can swing $120k for a car, I would get the LF-A.

I know your asking about the ES and LS, but let me compare the GS and LS for you since I own both, and since the GS is higher in the food chain then the ES.
The LS has unprecedented build quality. They don't compromise on materials and the use of leather (I have the UL model LS430). You can tell they've put all their technology and quality in the LS. While the ES might be newer looking, and have a few more extra gismos depending on what year LS we are comparing it too, some things are just always better in the LS, no matter what year.
Even compared to my old 98LS, it was built with better materials then my '02 GS430.

Lexus REALLY make sure their flagship is the best product they make, by far.
I am looking forward to see how insane the LF-A will be, a $150k+ Toyota, is very likely the highest quality car ever made when it comes out!
