Timing Belt Location Diagram?
Hey guys.. I need something to show someone to prove a point.
Anyone have a diagram of the LS430 engine showing the location of the timing belt? Maybe a cut-away or something? Photos would work..
Thanks,
Todd

Speaking with a service writer at the local dealership, face to face, the conversation went like this:
Me: "I've been researching the ticking noise you said is probably the timing belt. Apparently the injectors on the LS tick and are noticeable in a drivethrough, where I noticed it. I heard it from the backside of the engine."
Him: "Well, the timing belt is on the backside of the engine."
Me (puzzled look on my face): "The timing belt? It's on the frontside of the engine."
Him: "No it's not. It's on the back"
Me: "Between the engine and the transmission? Really?"
Him: "Yes, it's on the front."
Me: "Wow.. didn't know that."
If I had more patience, I would have grabbed an ear and drug him out to the service drive to show him the error in his ways.
Needless to say, my car is not going to be serviced at that dealer again.

No, unfortunately worse.

You would be surprised what the dealer has tried to convince me in the past. Yet when they find out they are wrong, they fruther insist in fear of humiliation, since they should know better working a dealer.
Keep in mind, when you drive an LS430/460 they assume you can barely pick the right fuel grade, much less the location of a timing belt.
Thats why i have deep respect for those who know their stuff, who are also rarely found in these retail chains, including teh dealership.
