As most of you know i have an 01 LS430 stock nothing done to it at all as of yet, and a friend of mine has a 1990 300zx nonturbo 5speed also stock and he swears that he can take me on a drag.

What are your thoughts let me know what you think

I would not bet pink slips on it..

2004 LS 430 does 1/4 mile in 14.7 for a top speed of 95 MPH
1990 300 ZX does it in 14.9 seconds for a top speed of 93

ha, I had 91 300ZX 2 + 2 5 spd, I can tell you the car is Slooowww!
I got beat by Civic Si , Integra LS!!! It is a heavy pig.

I doubt LS430 will lose, since the 300ZX is getting old thus losing some of the power.

the 2 seater is lighter, but I still doubt it will win since I had that in Auto form too.

However, TT is a different story!

I don't think the 01 LS430 will lose either. I test drove the '91 300ZX non-turbo 5 spd. back in 1993 (bought the '92 Subaru SVX instead), it didn't feel that quick at all. Meanwhile, the 2002 LS430 feels quicker off the line. But to 1/4 mile, it will be close, LS430 winning not by much.

I would brake-torque at launch. Left foot on brake, right foot pressing the gas, rev comes up to 2000-3000 (I did this once on a wet road with VSC off, it was fun!) Your friend will spin the rear tires of the ZX in an attempt to be quick off the line, and you will win.

But don't attempt to race the ZX on a winding road or even weaving in-and-out of traffic, the latter will get you tickets and the former will leave you in shame.

Not a guarantee win. Depending on where you are cruising for chicks, and unless his 300Z looks like a piece of crap, that car has a very strong cult following and personally although I'm no girl, I respect the 300Z very much. Although not really the non turbo version, but most girls wont know the difference

Anyway, I would think the LS430 could take a non turbo 300Z. In non turbo form those cars aren't that fast. I wouldn't bet my car on it though.

agreed! Both are good cars, but are completely different in both "genre" and age. It doesn't make sense to compare a fairly new massive luxury sedan with a old and very compact sports car.
