Default Stock wheels of LS430 have tire pressure sensor in them?

I am pretty sure it doesn't have sensor in them since no one talks about them, I am just curious.

My guess is the car monitor the tire pressure by the outside diameter of the tire, that is why there is a new tire reset button.

Am I correct?

Thanks

I heard starting 06 they have,
but for my 04, they don't, I got my 20' on, and went to the tireshop trying to switch the sensors, guess what? nothing in them!
But my low tire pressure light came on, so I went crazy!

I then called a Lexus tech, he said for 04-05, LS430 have the sensors embeded in the rim itself?!
But he taught me a way to take care of it, it was actually pretty simple, you just have to initiate the system, not reset, but initiate, so this way the car will remember the current tire pressure. I did it, and my light never came one again!
How the car sense my tire pressure, that's a question beyound me.

Anyway, I saved myself over 100 bucks not have to switch the sensors.

you answered my question then. There are no sensor.

I am sure the car monitor the tire pressure by checking the outside diameter of the tire, when you initiate the system, you are telling the system the current outside diameter of the tire is the correct tire pressure. When the pressure drop, the outside diameter get smaller, then the car tell you the tire is low on air.

So it doesn't really measure the pressure directly like the newer cars does. The LS430 have an earlier, less advance system.

Thank you for helping out

I could be wrong, but I highly doubt Lexus would add the sensors to the last year of the car's production in 06'. Look at the 08' SC430, the car is very outdated feature wise, but Lexus is not adding anything to it.

No problem.

I like it this way better, less trouble on swapping wheels.

True.

Like I always say, there are pros and cons in everything.

We'll leave the thread as many others could be wondering the same thing.

Lexus actually had two different system. One uses actual sensors, and another, like you suspected measures tire pressure by the outside diameter of the wheel. Starting with the LS460, the new system was used, which provides accurate PSI data for every tire, including spare.

There is a long sticky in the wheel and tire forum with a lot more information for those interested.

To reset the light, you will find a small panel near the drivers right knee that has a reset button and a **** to control the audible alarm for the keyless entry system as well as an ON/OFF toggle switch for the keyless entry feature.

Good info nevertheless

The same thing is used for my 06 sienna. When they swapped out the tires from the steelies to some chrome 16s, I didn't see any sensors???

The tech said it measures the diameter of the wheel-pretty cool. However it's somewhat ancient...can't tell which one is the flat one

So you have to initiate? Not reset? Someone just mentioned you can reset it on the 04 ls430 with the button above the right knee? Please confirm, thanks.

If you hit the reset the first time, the warning light will go out, but after you drive it for a while, it will come back on.

So what you do is, reset it first, and then while the car is in park and engine running, hold the reset button until it says " system initiate "
