I am a virgin at these HID stuff, please excuse my noob questions. All our Lexuses came stock with HID (see my sigs), but I want to put 9006 HID into my LS430's fog, all of your help is greatly appreciated

Can you be a little more specific with the cars, which year and model # of RX and LS? LS430? RX330?

Mine was direct plug and play but you do have to take the fender skirt out part way for excess to the fog light housing to install the kits.

So you'll be using the D2R bulb that is rebased to fit as a 9006 bulbs.
so is it correct to say all hid bulbs are D2R and D2S, all the different bases are just rebased onto those bulbs?

From the way it looks from the link I posted above and from what you said, the slim ballast are from 01-05, then 06+ the ballast became even smaller and black color. Am I right?

I understand that, thank you.

Do you know if the D2R and D4R bulbs are interchangable? Meaning they have the same base? And how do they look?

Thanks for all of your help!

the D2x and D4x series are not interchangeable. The voltage required for the two bulbs are different. There are only a few ballasts out there that will power both types of bulbs.

[QUOTE=BNR34;3532318]It is people like you who make forum very useful, thank you

The more you know, the more you're inclined to spend (and save)

I got that, but who make the best harness?

I don't it matters much since most of them use the bosch relays.

I found 2 different types of OEM Denso ballasts, do you know how they perform differently?

Both of our vendors are having a sale and the kits include the harness.
I'd rather support our vendors since they support CL

seems like GSteg answered part of the questions.

Yes, it's starts out that way, but gets modified to fit other conventional halogen applications.

The 2 notches in the neck are your conventional D2R/D2S bulbs.

The tabs you see sticking out are for non-D2R/D2R types:

From the way it looks from the link I posted above and from what you said, the slim ballast are from 01-05, then 06+ the ballast became even smaller and black color. Am I right?

Yes regarding the slim ballast from the links you provided.

once I understand everything, installation would be easy.

Installation is not hard at all. It's a matter of plugging in all the wires to:
1. Battery
2. factory fog harness
3. hid bulbs in the fog light

If we're ever in your area at Corona del Mar Beach (right?)-wife and kids at the beach, I don't mind meeting up with you and lend a hand

I'm going to safely assume the 2001+ models, that's what I noticed so far.

I don't know about the ES, but the older 2000> GS use those older one-the bigger black ballast.

Make sure you get the 9006 relay harness if you're going to wire them up for the fogs. Check the classifieds or even Cliffud, he's a vendor now

Here's my LS430 retro for my GS:
Wow that looks really Nice!

Do you remember who (seller name) you bought the HID light from?
The one I bought it cost me $69.98 shipped. So far so good with the replacement and all other light I bought work good.
