Default Opinion Pls: 01 LS430 55k for $18k

Guys,

I am thinking of buying a black on black leather mint condition 01 LS430. I got the non Lexus dealer to come down to $18k plus tax and license.

It doesn't have Nav or any other premium options.

Do you guys think this is a good buy?

Thanks

hey man, based on ny market that is way too much for a 01 car with no nav, i had seen a 03 with 54k, navigation and mark lev for 18300 almost three months ago!! the reason i passed up on that car was beacuse of the color!!

good price for that car is around 14-15k depending on the body condition!! especially with the gas prices the delaer must be thrilled to even sell quickly. wholesale value on this particular car is around 13- 14k!!

I looked up KBB and excellent is $18k. None here in my cali are showing up at the prices you are quoting.

You are quoting from KBB and many are getting way below that. Dealers likes to show you prices from KBB but there is wholesale pricing to be had. With the economy like it is now, many are willing to get rid of inventory at wholesale to recoup the cost faster.

hey man.....do you believe everything you see on the net? well, most of these website always hype the price up, if you can save 4k and get a car that is in the same condition like the one you are looking at then you wouldnt hesitate to travel right? then look for cars else where than california and save yourself lots of money!! i go to dealer auctions all the time and im not making up prices, these are the real manheim auction prices....you could get an 03 with nav and mark lev for around 18k with 50-60k.

The information JDMUSCLE and others provide here regarding real world auction prices is extremely valuable when shopping for a used car. Do you know where this vehicle was before the dealer listed it? If you run a carfax on that VIN and see it was from an auction - which many LS's come from - then you'll now know approximately what the dealer paid.

If you don't have the history of the car and therefore don't know what the dealer paid, then in the end it's really just what you are prepared to pay for that car.

Shop around... the price is too high for a car with that options or lack thereof.

Wow, so low!!!

How much would a Florida car, black on black, 2001 LS430 Ultra, loaded with everything, including lexus chrome wheels sell for with 77k miles in real good condition?

For this 2001 LS430, with no options, 55k miles:
GALVES WHOLESALE TRADE-IN $14525 (the money you're gonna get from trading this car in today)
GALVES MARKET READY $15925 (money you'll get if your trade-in requires "absolutely" no dress up ie. polish, wax, carpet shampoo, nothing to fix-probably not possible)

2001 LS430 Ultra Luxury, 77k miles

GALVES WHOLESALE TRADE-IN $15300 (the money you're gonna get from trading this car in today)
GALVES MARKET READY $16700 (money you'll get if your trade-in requires "absolutely" no dress up ie. polish, wax, carpet shampoo, nothing to fix-probably not possible)

Sad isn't it.. my '02 isn't that far off.
