Its a good idea if you have kids in the back seat all the time and they relentlessly annoy the hell out of you, in which case you should be driving a minivan instead. But if you like 'em, go ahead!

Why not just do headrests, i was thinking of getting them done and a local shop was gonna charge me $300 per head rest with 7 inchers in both and a hidden DVD and AV hookup for an aditional $100 not to expensive if u ask me

Yea, its not a bad idea to. I mean its personal preference. The only issue I have is them cutting into my head rest. I think myself personally I would get a hold of some headrest, just to have a second pair. But yea I thought about it as well. If you do decide to do it. Take pics and let us know how it goes....

It's all a matter of personal preference.. I think it would be clean but then again I personally never have ridden in the back of my own vehicle so it wouldn't make sense for me. I would spend the money available for such a job elsewhere.

While we are on this topic, I have considered having screens installed in the drop down mirrors that are in the 2004 LS. Not sure how practical it would be or whether or not it would work. I just think it's a pretty good location to have them installed. Out of curiosity, has anyone else had this done or seen this done yet? (Personally I'm not a big fan of tearing into the head rest, specifically because they are power adjustable.) However, I have seen the screens installed in the headrests of other vehicles and it's pretty clean.

A Head rest monitor no matter how one sees as good or bad, is the most natural place for a TV for rear passengers if the goal is comfortable view on a long trip in a large sedan. (I think)

I have monitors in mine for the kiddos (3.5 and 2 years.) Driving a van is not an option! They trash the car but that is what Saturday mornings are for eh? Anyways our system is has the two monitors, hidden DVD player in the upper glove box, and video output to the NAV map screen. The NAV screen is controlled by a manual switch at the driver knee for cops since front screens are illegal in many places. Our units were custom fit into the stock headrests and has the finished look that I wanted. I have the drop in units in our Denali and they are nice enough.
Notice the seat protector? Yuck but they serve their purpose! The overhead unit in the pic is for the infrared headphones. We also have infrared relay for the DVD player mounted by the rearview so you don't have to open the glove box.
