Default Home made Air intake

While looking at the fujita air intake and comparing it to the box air intake that we have right now. Couldnt you just cut the pipe of the air intake at the end right before the box and Stick a K&N cone on the end and have your own ram air intake for $50 instead of spending $370 for pretty much the same resuslts, then you would just reset the computer to the new Airflow setting and call it a day? IF im wrong let me know cause im going to look into this further tonight when i get home from school.

My guess is that you can get the 'same results' (that being no additional power) by not doing anything to the excellent factory air cleaner system. Plus, a K&N offers poorer filtration capability than the paper element types....

To free up some airflow in these engines I would definitely begin with the exhaust from the heads back -- the factory system is convoluted and TINY. That said, I don't think you'll find enough additional HP to matter much in the real world. For power increases that matter without destroying drivability you'll need forced induction.

Is there an applause icon? Cuz this deserves one.

I was looking into it, but honestly i dont think im touching the mechanical other than exhaust (still fighting wether or not to put it because i love my quiet ride) but the LS430 is by far the best car I've had or driven..
im not sure even to put a k&n filter cause iv herd some bad things about it

I tried a K&N on one of my Ford trucks (2005) and then heard about them not seating good,, checked it out and sure enough only about 3/4 of the gasket was seated alowing unfiltered air to pass,, pitched it and have never considered again,,
