Default pics of the LS430 "Fat40" set up

after having a fully tricked out y33 q45 with full on kit, wheels and airrunner air suspension, I decided to try a completely different approach with my ls430.

My goal was to have a hassle free daily driver with ride comfort - convenience, while still decently maintaining the jdm EXE VIP appeal. I got sick of having to worry about scraping bumpers or damaging the undercarriage. I didn't want the hassles of road obstacles, hurdles, steep drive ways, dips, etc. The goal was to drive it like a stock car while still giving it a decent VIP EXE look.

I opted with the 19" and 40 series tire set up, The 40 series makes a huge difference in terms of more comfort, cushion, and road absorption. It's very smooth. I went with 245 40 19 on 9J and a mild stretch on 255 40 19 on 10J.

The tanabe sustec pro5 gives me a 2" to 2.5" drop all around.

the car feels good. I drive it just as I do a stock LS430. No angling driveways, no worries about where I can go, where I cannot go. Just plain and simple hassle free.

very conservative look. i shoulda went this route too cause these dubs are killing my back. har har. thought u had 18's. i think the step lip makes it look a little smaller. ...none the less, very clean look. no angles ftw!! haha.

your right, the step does make it look smaller. it gets annoying sometimes. Not even sure if a reverse flat lip will help, just might say F IT and go 20"!!

I'll be joining you in the FAT SETUP Club pretty soon

The meaty tires don't look as good as the lower profiles, but I also opted for the comfort

From my old wheels, they're 245/40/19 +41 and 285/35/19 +43.

Was it you that you had problems with the rubbing....I briefly remembered reading an old topic on that

So no step lip will help better?
I am still thinking about throwing my 19' on my LS.

because the LS430 is so big, the step lip makes the wheel look smaller than it is.

for GS and LS400 it is fine, but for LS430 you may want the most visual impact if your going with 19" . Step lip doesn't help much.

Mike,

Looks pretty good and I hear you about the comfort factor when going with larger wheels. If only these wheels didn't have the stepped lip it would look sooo much better to my eyes. The drop is very nice thou. Keep up the good work!

That's a pretty mild no nonsense setup. I know how you feel about not needing to worry about driving diagonally, etc. I constantly watch for potholes and steep driveway dips, etc., but that's the price of bling

it's 2001.

the orange is from the orange bulb. I changed out the clear oem bulb to orange. U can get it at any kragen, autozone, etc. The aftermarket bulb doesn't go in as easy as the oem bulb, it may feel like it doesn't fit but keep trying! it snaps in!

very nice.. I was headed in this direction until Lexus offered to replace all my wheels under warranty. Give me a couple of years.. of course by then, I just might change my mind.

mikemareen,

My favorite way to go in my opinion. It looks absolutely perfect. I love the FAT look!

Excellent job!
