Yes, so now it tranny shifts at 2K rpm instead of over 3K normal driving. Slower but I wanna see how much I can save on gas.

Default Hypermiling challenge???

In case anyone is curious.. (I know mikemareen mentioned he was hypermiling) you may want to visit this webpage... http://www.hypermiling.com/ I first saw this on a video several weeks ago. (FOX News maybe?) Ever since then I have practicing the described methods and have experienced great results. As stated in a previous post I am averaging about 24mpg on an average tank, of course I am doing about 85% highway driving too. Try this for a week without fail and see what kind of results you will get, then post them for us to see.

I am suprized that people with 20's are getting much lower mileage. My LS430 has 20X10s on it with 285s in the rear and 245 in front. The rims are heavy Lowenharts. The gets mileage people are quoting for stock rims. I have the stock 17's and will install them for a test if anyone is curious.

Its amazing to me that this car gets this fuel mileage. Its saved me hundreds of dollars a month so far over my Supercharged harley davidson pickup.

This is called 'hypermiling'?! I've been driving like this (like an old man) since I was about 35 or so. Just didn't see the advantage anymore in rushing from light to light and putting massive amounts of wear/tear on my vehicles. I have a 99 Dodge Ram 4X4 pickup that I can get 16.0 mpg in the city driving this way.

See my post re my trip through Europe in my 01' LS430
I averaged 27.1MPG over a 2744mile trip with an AVERAGE speed of 43MPH including 4 hours in a traffic jam doing no more than 10MPH. My best on a tank was 510 miles and the worst 460 when I went over mountains as high as 4000ft through torrential rain and cloud.

I usually get about 80 dollars from when the gas light comes on or right before and get about 405 miles usually.

Try living in Europe and you will pay $180 for a tank filling. We pay about $8,80 per US Gallon.....

Getting 20-22 MPG in 50/50 City/Highway driving. On the freeway getting about 28-29 at 70 MPH. This is with 18 inch Sport wheels with tires at 35psi. By the way, the difference between the "Standard" 17 inch wheel and the 18's is only a few pounds, which makes negligible difference in mileage. Driving style makes all the difference. I am rarely the first one out of stoplights and drive very smoothly on the highway. Of course I'm like that on my motorcycle which will go 0-60 in a tick over 3 seconds!

I get around 21.6 mpg on 50/50 Freeway/City driving with some hypermilling techniques. 02 LS430 with 16" Tires.
