How much to fill up & how many miles do you average?
How much is everyone spending to fill up their tanks from empty? And about how many miles do you average from each tank?

well usually when the empty light comes on, it takes about ~20 gallons to fill it up.
~20 x $4.5 = ~$90
The car average about 20 mpg, which is excellent considering what it is and how much enjoyment it provide.
To get any higher mpg that means anything, you have to go with a much smaller, lighter car with a much smaller engine, like a Corolla/Yaris, those are 25~30 mph.
I just go out less/drive less, I have been driving for ~10+ years, I have been to everywhere I want to be and done all the driving I want to. Lucky I think, sucks for young people that just start out and want to go everywhere.
I rather go out less then to drive a much crappier car.

I've been getting 16.5-17mpg in the city under normal city driving. I get 15-16.5mpg under a bit more aggresive/normal city driving. I get anywhere from 22.5-24mpg when I'm traveling longer distances (100+ miles).
I usually fill up at around half a tank and it costs me around $43

Right now I'm getting 17.5mpg and fill up around 20 gallons. Price all depends on where I go, Costco is usually the cheapest but the price goes up literally daily.
I have alternative transportation now. I'll post that in another thread

Fuel in Texas is typically more affordable than elsewhere. I'm spending about $75 - $80 to fill up but I don't usually wait for the light to come on. I travel about 450 miles a week so I'm on the road alot. Highway driving I will average about 27 - 28mpg. City driving I'm averaging about 17 - 18mpg. Since I'm mostly on the highway I can typically average about 24+mpg according to the trip computer. Of course if I put my foot in it, that all changes! But it's so worth it for me. I have to agree with BNR34, I'm old and I've been all over the US and Europe. I travel way too much to drive a crappy car.

My 01 LS430 has made Four 320 mile trips to another city and then back. Most of the time I use the cruise control around 75 to 80mph. At this speed the car will get 28 to 31 MPG steady. The AVG indicator will read 25 to 27mpg over the tank. If I drive only in the city and never on the highway much this falls to 20 AVG. I have accepted the fact that this is is a big car so I push the throttle and let her speed up at her own rate and then I level off.
By the way.. Using the cruise when possible saved me several miles on the AVG setting. Running PWR on the switch cost me 2 MPG AVG. I leave it off most of the time.
The car seems to get its highest Instant MPG Reading around 75 to 80mph on level ground. If I go down to 65 I actualy show lower MPG. If I go to 90 I drop down again. This is on FLAT as a pancake desert highway. This matters as I use this car on a 640 mile monthly commute.
Hope this helps!

The LS430 have a very low aerodynamic drag, the cd is 0.25 (very smooth body with a mostly flat bottom), combine with an extremely efficient drivetrain and engine, which is the reason why this 4000 lbs V8 powered luxury car is so gas efficient!
The EVO is the exact opposite, very high aerodynamic drag (all the scoop, big wing, wide tires....etc), with a very UN-efficient drivetrain (4WD with LSD front and rear), not to mention 20+ psi need A LOT of gas to keep it from pinging. But you don't own a EVO for good gas mileage right?

how are u guys getting 450 to 500+ per tank ? I hit 370 miles when the fuel tank empty light comes on and that's with 20" wheels.
I've been "hyper miling" to try to squeeze another 50 miles out of it but it's difficult !

I have been averaging around 26 mpg on the highway and 21-22 around town. As with every car, depends on how heavy you are with your right foot. I am fairly easy on the right pedal Everything related to fuel economy is still it its stock condition. I use premium in it. Cost to fill up just depends on when I get around to it, but around 4.10 - 4.30 in the past month.
