Default LS 430 Ultra CEL VSC & rpm

A friend has an Ultra Edition 01. It was sitting for the last 3 months.

After several unsuccessful attempts to start it, the battery was replaced.

Once it started, the CEL, VSC & Brake (Red Exclamation) lights came on and the RPM is unstable and will not move above 2k even if the gas pedal is fully pressed. Therefore the vehicle will only reach low speeds.

I've done a search on the forum and the lights issue is mentioned. However, I did not come across the rpm issue being discussed.

Any clues what is going on with it?

Thanks

Not sure but it's possible that you have a bad tank of gas and that is why you can't get it over 2k and its rough.

Depending on how long it sat, it could also have developed some condensation in the tank or fuel lines. Particularly if you're in a cold climate. Letting a car sit for a long period of time with a low level of fuel in the tank is a recipe for problems. It also sounds like it may also be a timing/ignition/spark issue. There are several factors that could cause this issue. Have you had it put on a diagnostic computer yet? That may clear up some issues. Good luck.

Check your fuses. Someone could have accidentally reverse the polarity when jumping the battery, causing it to fry the main fuse. cheap fix, so check your fuses before you spend big bucks on towing, etc.

I suspect that the ECu is someway to blame I had a very similar experience with a BMW V12 750iL once. The symptoms and cause (standing for months) were identical; Trouble is, I cant remember what I did to clear it! It was very possibly a fuse replacement as suggested by Grand LS. but I was out on the road with it and when it cleared it took off like a drag racer!
