My 2001 LS430 with stock 16's gets about 21-22 mpg in 60 hwy/40 city driving. At 32 lb psi I was getting about 19-20 with some outer tire wear. Now at 35psi I am getting 1-2mog higher with less resistance and more car roll when not pressng the gas on downhill. I drive very mild to maximize my miles.
Yeah but the LS 430 has more horsepower than the 400 so I thought it burns more gas!
Horsepower is good (up to a certain point). Greater horsepower means that the tranny doesn't have to spend as much time in the lower gears to get the job done.
My '02 LS430 gets approx. 21 in town and 28 on the highway.
