I was on vacation so I missed this exciting thread.
I thought about a used RL around 2000. I checked one out at a Carmax, didn't wow me, so I bought an Audi A6 there. I returned the A6 within an hour cause I didn't like that either, shifting gears all the time on the interstate.
I gave up, paid more and bought my LS400 several months later.
Tee summed it up well.

to your accessment on drifting. I've never tried it, my post was based on some youtube videos. Honestly, it looks like the LS was about to crash more than drifting. And true, the RL isn't drifting any time soon. I can't drift in my RX (AWD) except on snow...

"End of Story" for sure on this... we will not get any concensous on this subject... it's like the old "regular or premium unleaded" fuel debate or "regular or synthetic" motor oil. Just will go on forever... and ever... and ever....
