Default Radar Detector wiring

so I have a beltronics vector 965, and I just bought a direct-wire power cord for it so that I could plug it directly into my car's electrical system. The only problem is that I have no idea how to do this, I assume that I would have to be removing some panels from my dash to access the wires, but that's all I know. Any help would be greatly appreciated, or if anyone happened to have a service manual for a 01 ls430 that would be great!

Default Using a piggyback fuse to power add-on stuff

An easy way to hardwire accessories is to use a piggyback fuse connector - available at auto parts stores - at the underdash fuse box. Attached is a photo. If you would rather splice directly into a wire, look under the center console for a wire running to the cig lighter or the accessory outlet.

I hardwired my bracket mounted portable GPS to the accessory outlet wire and my phone kit to the ignition switch before I learned about piggyback fuse connectors. Duh!

I remember reading about these things long ago called "stealth cords". Quick google search brought up this : http://www.stealthcords.com/ I am assuming it would work for the LS but I have not looked at my mirror.

That's pretty cool Kansas

For got56ry: IF you want to splice some wires and you're mounting it close to the rear view mirror, the visors have constant power. It's easy to run and hide the wires in the headliner.

Wow what a great idea, these are not available in the UK, I've had a good look on google and ebay etc but I can't find anyone selling them, does anyone know of an on line retailer who sells these, or does anyone fancy sending me 100 of them to the UK.... expenses and profit added!!

Thanks for the help kansas. I actually found out about those piggyback fuse connectors after it was too late.I decided just to return the hard wiring cord http://www.radarbusters.com/radar-de...rtplugcord.cfm because I couldn't figure out where I would hide the hella long cord. Being the sometimes lazy guy that I am decided to buy this insteadhttp://www.radarbusters.com/radar-de...rtplugcord.cfm

Here are two of several online sellers of "Add-a-circuit" fuseholders I found -- probably that is the correct name for what I have been calling "piggyback fuses":
