HELP!!! 2001 LS430 ULTRA selling
#16
Agree with all that has been said here. LS430 is practically a steal to buy right now. I only see one problem with option 3,,
Because of his low post count number, he is gonna have to have another CL member vouch for hm and his car (having seen it in person). Should be easy to remedy this though. Good luck with your sale. Private sale is definately gonna net you more money than trade in.
3. Post it here on CL if you haven't yet. A Black on Black UL should be easy to move...

I have a 2004 LS Ultra Luxury with 47k miles for $26,995 and I can't get a buyer. Everyone keeps lowballing me and I am told not to expect more than about $24,000 for this thing, regardless of the fact Kelly Blue Book and NADA place it as being worth $32,000+ retail.
It's a beotch trying to unload it, only made worse by the fact that the car is pristine and has always been serviced well. People act like I am a chain smoker who has wrecked it into a wall or something the way they keep lowballing me with ridiculous bids.
So, I too am very frustrated with these market conditions.

Your car is a beautiful car, and I think the main problem people are having with yours is the color. It is priced exceptionally well, obviously well taken care of, but that is the only thing that would turn me away. Hold tight and I am sure someone will take it off your hands soon.

Goes to show you that it all depends on where you are and what car colors are popular. When I was looking (and I had been looking for a year, consistently), all the darker cars were selling and the lighter ones were not. You could get a very good deal on the lighter colors as opposed to the darker colors.

UPDATE: Dealer came up another $1,500.00
I have an 01 LS430 black on black ULTRA model, with 81k miles.
Its a one -owner Florida car and I am the first and only owner.
The original MSRP sticker for the car was over $71k when I bought it new.
It has every available option made by Lexus at the time, including the Lexus chrome wheels. Been dealer serviced since new.
Today, on a trade with a Lexus dealer, they ONLY offered me $14,500.00.
Does anyone have a better suggestion on where to move it quick and realize more money. I am getting another (2nd) LS460.

Sounds like the dealer may be making you a reasonable offer. However, as you know, the only thing that really matters is the net. If the dealer has the LS460 priced aggressively, than he's offering you as much as you're going to get for the 430, especially when you take into account the sales tax savings from the trade in. But on the other hand, if he's got $4K of padding in the 460 price ($4K more than you could actually buy it for if you weren't trading anything in), it's a different story. And that's what matters -- the net. Good luck!

Your car can sell for I think about $17,500-18,500 private sell. Take into account that its a sellers market just like the home market. Also be patient like I said earlier. You have a 2001 Ultra luxury with 81,000 miles on it. Thats a great buy for someone looking. There is and will be a buyer just be patient. You want a new car,you dont need it so that said, take your time and sell it yourself and then go to the dealer in a position of power without needing them for trade in. All the best to you!
