Beat it? How so? Performance wise? If that's the case, I'm not too concerned. I didn't purchase the body-roll express for performance. That being said, If I had to chose any vehicle other then the LS– it would undoubtably be a 7 series. I just find that the overall direction of the LS is and always will be luxury, while the 7 is always trying to balance luxury and performance (take the seats for instance.) Now, if the BMW didn't have a performance-minded approach, it wouldn't be a BMW. Different strokes for different folks I assume. I'd still take an E92 over an ISf any day :P

Even the 2009 with twin turbos is only rated by the factory at 5.2 seconds 0-60 and it has 40hp and 90tq more than the 08.
Now, every test and source is different but using one of the slowest, Edmunds, they give the following stats
LS460, 0-60mph 5.8sec, 1/4 mile 14.20 @ 100.70mph
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do.../pageId=103461
750i, 0-60mph 6.4sec, 1/4 mile 14.23 @ 100.11mph

I would argue in the REAL world the car that gets driven more aggressively (ecu's tend to learn and adapt to driver style) and has the more responsive driver would take a challenge. Both of these cars SHOULD be much faster than my 10 year old car but do not look that way on paper.

I was just replying to the quote in your signature: "My LS could eat your 7-Series... and still wouldn't break down. How is this you say?" But you're right - the cars are meant for two different types of drivers. Honestly? I prefer the Lexus LS. I'm just enjoying all the head-turning as my car goes by.. My next vehicle will likely be another LS...
The comparison I was giving was to the poster's Lexus LS430 - not the LS460. If I'm not mistaken, the new LS has done 0-60 in 5.4 seconds.. The 750Li does it in 5.8... If 6.4 is the best Edmunds could do in the 750, than shame on them...

Hmmm... the 750 is a heavy car, heavier than the LS460. It has 360hp vs the Lexus at 380hp.

Supposedly the 6-speed transmission in the '04+ dropped the 0-60 time to 5.9 seconds.
