Well, I bought the 8.1 DVD (250 from the local Lexus dealer).
Tried to create a backup copy. The copy would not work in my 2001 LS.
Interestingly, one of the backups (I made 3 using different methods/software) did work in my 2001 LX470!
I can confirm that the override to allow you to input addresses while moving still works. Cool.
Also, I am amazed that not a single thing on the gui seems to be different. I can understand not making significant changes, but damn, it looks identical except for the "8.1" when you look at the version.
