Does anyone know the production numbers for the LS Ultra? Also what year was it first offered? Thanks.

i either read somewhere or just heard from some car enthusiast that only 5% of the cars produced for the ls430 model were UL's.

how many = 5% of x where x is the number of ls430's produced.

From the Lexus website, LS430 total units produced:
2001 - 31,473
2002 - 27,033
2003 - 21,461
2004 - 31,697
2005 - 28,902

I don't see info for the 2006 model year.

I tend to play the "UL spotting" game by looking to see if the rear armrest contains the UL controls. I sure see a lot of UL's for them to have been only 5% of the total. But maybe I'm seeing the same ones over and over, LOL.

Some trivia: There was a functional equivalent of the LS UL for the Japanese home market from the very beginning in 1989: The "C" specification Toyota Celsior with the "F" package.

That's cool that Lexus would publish the numbers.
It's interesting that there were 10,000 less in '03 than for '01. Wonder how they gauge the number of LS430's to produce?

Probably based on forecasted demand ... adjusted during the manufacturing year depending on sales.

The 1990 model year was the biggest: 41,901 units produced. They were so freaking cheap ($35,000 base list price) both me and my next door neighbor bought one. Only 11,098 2000 LS400s like the one I have now were produced -- the lowest number in any model year from 1990 - 2005.

i just bought an 05 ul yesterday and was wondering if you can tell its a ul by the grill cuz the one i gots has the funky front grill with like a clear plastic cut out insert of the L inside the front grill... kinda hard to explain but if you've seen one then you'd probably know. i'll get some pics soon, when it stops raining but i know i have seen them on occasion before.

That funky "plexiglass" on the "L" emblem on the grille is for the PCS system and it was available on UL and CL I believe starting in 2005. Maybe 2004.

The only sure way to know if UL are:

Rear door has pull up sunshade
Center arm rest has the audio controls
Rear door has three buttons for recline, massage and "memory??"

yup, i read like half of the owners manual and now i feel silly cuz it is the radar cruise thing. i do love the ul but it has way to many automated features. the nav is kinda screwy and hard to figure out without studying the manual first. i love that i can disable the laser cruise thing cuz in my opinion it sucks...

the grandkids love all those buttons,,

every time they are in the back the vibrators are on and most likely the back AC and then they have to adjust the seats tilt position and seat coolers and then they start on the radio scanning everything I have in there,,

one of these days I'm going to sit back there and enjoy the vibrator,,
