In that book your car is worth around...13k with 60k, since dealer never add for miles you are looking for around 12- 13K depending on the condition of the car. 17K...you wont even get that from a private sale. Currently, if you go on autotrader...you can find 04 with lower miles for 19-20k sooo, you do the math, will anyone with the right mind pay 17k for a 02 when newer and updated model is available for 2-3k more.

Dont mean to knock you or anything but please come out of cloud nine!!

i agree with JD (i was in the car biz for 5yrs myself, including Lexus),

Yeah, it was for a Prius.

You need to check off the boxes for ultra luxury, and adaptive cruise control, Mark Levinson audio. Then you come up with the correct #'s in the 17K range. Try it.

OK, I got $14,500 for it, and I took it. Still think it's worth more, but with the economy, and car sales in the crapper, I felt it's the best I could get.

Definitely better than the $10K I was offered.

Was that PP or trade-in?

So I walked out, and he blew a sale.

What are these cars really getting at resale? I see ads on cars.com from dealers and private parties for about $20K.
I just saw an 02 LS430 ultra premium from Florida sell on Fleebay for $14,500.00 Here in Canada where the Ls is not the most popular Lexus due to the weather conditions you can pick up an 02 for 16 to 20K from a Lexus dealer certified.

You got a great deal!

At auction, the dealers get any car for a couple grand less than "trade-in" value, which is why no dealer I have been to has ever offered trade-in price on a trade-in. Why would anyone, especially a dealer, pay more for a car they can easily get for thousands less?

Yeah I hate to admit it too but ive seen the 01's to 03's especially take a huge fall, ive seen perfect cond. UL's from my friends trading them in with below 40k-50k miles get only 10-12k for trade in.. even specaial order ones with the bourdoux interior!

What car did you trade in your LS for? Did you pay sticker for it?
I'd have to say that if Galves shows $13k for your car and they gave you $14.5k then $1,500 is "allowance"; i.e. they decreased their new car profit by that amount in order to make a sale, not because your LS was actually worth $14.5k to them.

Those LS's sure are a phenomenal value when used - that's about the cost of a new Honda Civic!

It was a trade in.

And NO, I didn't pay sticker for the new car. Give me a break. I paid $1100 under invoice for a 2009 Prius, which considering the stupid amount that those cars have been going for, I think was a pretty good deal.

I'm not a rookie at this. Far from it.

I apologize if I sounded patronizing, didn't mean to cause offense.
Congrats on Prius, it is a nice car, although it might seem a little slow after the Murcielago.

No offense taken. And yes it is a little slow, but I think good for my daughter. Safe, economical, doesn't attract attention, etc.
