Neither... I'm in I.S. I'm use to asking questions with questions and not giving very specific answers...

I'm was just curious was all. Strange question, but answered well here I think.

Have a 92 accord with a exhaust leak and slight high idle issue (but body & interior showroom condition....purchase from a little old lady, original owner) tank of gas will last a month with local driving. Tank of gas will last 2 weeks in the 430.

my other car (wives) is an 05 scion xa that gets like 38 mpg's. previously we (she) drove a jeep grand cherokee that averaged like 15 mpg's when she drove it and like 18 when i drove it. my previous gs400 was the same mpg as the ls430.

I made this pole question not to tell me about the "LS430" but rather to tell me about the "PEOPLE" that drive the LS430. The short answer... to learn a little bit more about the psychographics of an LS430 owner.

I must say I'm curious even more after your reason for asking the question but, oh well. I got the car for size and quality myself and mileage wasn't a top factor as much as over all price of ownership. Yes, gas mileage is a part of cost of ownership also but, my focus was repairs and how often problems arised!

I look at how many total miles I drive per tank. I get about 400-425 miles a tank! Sometimes 375-400 miles per tank, this depends on more city or less city driving. Less city driving 400-425 miles. More city driving 375-400 miles per tank!

According to the pole, most LS430 owner have another car that gets better gas mileage.

So maybe I shouldn't buy a LS430 if that will be my best mileage car.

My wife's got a Civic Hybrid so she can travel in the HOV lanes in the DC area. The car gets twice the mpgs as a LS430.

LS is definitely not the car you want to drive if your primary concern is gas mileage.
Does this pretty much sum this up?

Gas mileage IS a concern for the majority of the LS owners that voted in this pole. That might be evidenced by the majority here owning cars that get better mileage than their LS.

Default Diesel Truck

My Cummins-powered 2004 Dodge 3500 4x4 that weighs about 7200 lbs. gets the same or beter mpg compared to the 2002 LS 430 in town (they both end up around 17+), but the Lexus takes a proportionally bigger hit as the severity of stop and go traffic increases. If every vehicle had AVERAGE SPEED readouts, it would be easier to see the direct effect of traffic! But the LS takes the lead on the highway ... 23 to 25, while the Dodge does 19 or so, and a best ever of 22. Most often it gets 9.5 on trips, but that's at almost 22,000 lbs. combined weight (boat in tow), about the same as nine Prius cars, or close to twice the mass-adjusted fuel economy as the Prius. Take that greenies! Not here to brag about my truck, because the LS is clearly the preferred cruising machine. They are both great at what they do. You guys with the 28 mpg are doing well. I think I was stuck behind you going to LA!

I bet most people owning the LS 430 or just any other LS or Lexus because they love the car's luxurous look, feel and drive. And because of that, yes, they will have cheaper, more economical car(s) to drive around on daily purposes. One reason is because of gas price, but other reasons are because the love of it. But if gas mileage is your main concern, get a hybrid, or one of those one seaters that are now seen more often on the roads. Can't be cheap and luxurious at the same time.

Our 06 Highlander gets just slightly better mileage, but just barely. It does it on regular gas. Given how large the LS is and the fact that it has a powerful V8, the MPG is outstanding. My average overall is 21.5 mpg

It sure hell was not on the top of my list and my LS430 gets way better MPG than my old 97 Toyota 4Runner.

It was not bad when from 97-when gas prices went out of control not to mention after 11 yrs it was time for an upgrade.
