Default What, if anything do you not like about your 430?

I'll start:

1) Standard stereo, not M.L., is utter crap. In a Chevy pick-up, not really
surprised. In a $60,000. LS? Yes, totally shocked at how poor it sounds.
2) Having to spend $80.00 to re-seal the factory windshield to keep it from
sounding as if a window is not shut. First car in my life to ever need this.
3) In 40K miles it has had $6,000.00 in warranty repairs (not good!). One
dead climate control computer, one blown wheel hub, and the heater
elements in one seat crapped out. Three weeks in the shop. ES loaner
was nice.

Other than that, great car, but I am not totally happy so far, and I am most troubled by the warranty fixes. I dearly want to love this car, but I wonder if I made a mistake. Persuit of Perfection? Engine, styling, ride? YES! Reliability and able to go to 200K miles without trouble? Not sure, but I dearly hope so. I mean lets be honest, in this economy, with most all cars resale values going off a cliff, including Lexus, this could be the car I need to drive a loooong time to get the value out of it, and I want to feel that I can.

Only time will tell.

by no means is this car perfect...

things i dont like about LS430 (lot of these issues resolved w/LS460L...

3rd brake lights (should be LED)
inside green lights (like toyota, lame)
performance/handling (lame)
not enough leg room in rear seat for reclining rear seats (ultra model)
doesn't feel as smooth as long wheelbase S-class IMO
cooling seats are really weak compare to european counterparts
lack of "sport model" (like AMG bodykit, suspension)
get rid of tape deck, makes car look outdated
no aux (audio) jack in car
sport seats option not available (lack of sport model again)
"too small" heated seats buttons/*****
cupholder design, like them inside the ashtray area (like my GS400)
would like push button start (S2000) had them back in 1999

ML Stereo system, that's about it. Everything else I don't like is an easy fix - interior bulbs and stuff.

I'll have to second the cooling seat and a lack of high end sports model. They need a LS-F

Since I don't blast the radio like I use to, the ML is fine with me.

Also, if they are going to put a chill box in the back, make it a real one

Other than that, its been an amazing car with very little defects. Drives like an electric car with its smooth power delivery and quietness.

After driving my 430 for two years, I have very little to dislike but here are my 3 top choices.

The cupholders are useless. Have spilled more coffee on my ecru seats than I have drank. Wish someone would design an aftermarket cupholder for the ashtray.

Trunk and fuel door release should be on the door instead of inside on the dash. Easier to access when you're not sitting inside the car.

Navigation system. Too many lawyers got involved in the design and DVD based system is simply a cash cow for Toyota. You should be able to remove the data box, USB it into your computer at home and download any updates from there. Also, system not intuitive like Garmins. As a matter of fact, does anyone know why Garmin does not sell their stuff straight to the car manufacturer.

Otherwise, I always look forward to driving the car. Love the sport models handling and feel, love the ML for its richness, love the softness of the aforementioned coffee stained seats, love the A/C system, huge trunk and lastly, the reliability and low maintenance of the car. I'm in the market to add another to the stable.

I would probably go get that fixed. Might be an alignment issue.

This is more of a "lacking" rather than hating what is currently available.
I agree that it should have sports package, but then again, even the GS doesn't even offer it

not enough leg room in rear seat for reclining rear seats (ultra model)
my biggest gripe is more of that big ol middle hump

doesn't feel as smooth as long wheelbase S-class IMO
I disagree (MO). It's boaty also and no different than the LS (I don't have the AMG package).

no aux (audio) jack in car
Answer to above:
get rid of tape deck,

yeah, pretty cheesy

cupholder design
by far the weakest design and about the only thing I hate about the LS

Other than that, I love my LS

#1 - Navigation/Phone use while car in motion. Screw the lawyers, there should be button to not just accept, but bypass if wanted (without the whole volume menu thing)

#2 - The "mode" button protrudes too much, I constantly hit it and channel changes on me around turns.

#3 - SmartAccess does not autolock once you leave vehicle and after "x" minutes of detecting key has left the vehicle

#4 - Bigger glove box, door is funky and actually doesn't hold much.

We are happy with our 2001 LS430, but would like it better if Lexus had made the following changes:

1. Get rid of the "I Agree" Nav screen and allow destination changes while the vehicle is moving.
2. Longer lasting trunk lid lift struts.
3. More reliable CD changer, able to handle labeled CD's with out jamming and a design that would allow the changer to be removed separately from the whole radio and climate control unit. Now to fix the changer, I will have to send the whole "enchillada" in for repair and drive around with no AC/Heat or radio.
4. Support for MP3 format and a jack for Ipod video players.

I know folks, more bucks and one can have a newer LS430 with some improvements, or add aftermarket devices for the radio.

2006 LS Ultra 40,000+ miles.
1. Lexus has one of the lowest quality paint job I have experienced in any car of like price or much lower. In fact it has the worse paint job of any brand I have ever owned.
2. Interior is very easy to scuff.
3. Too much body flex which causes creeking around doorjambs.
4. Heated seats are slow to warm.

Regarding issues 1 and 2; my car has a very easy life. I cannot imagine how it would hold up with regular use. In the past I have been a long term owner of whatever daily driver I purchased. I am not sure that will be the case with this car due to how well the paint and interior holds up. For now the postives far outweigh the negatives.

3 things I wish my LS430 has:

1, Heated steering wheel like on LS460/600

2, Power side sunshades like on LS460/600

3, Better cooling seats like on......

haha.....maybe I need a LS600....but I do like the styling on the 430 better....sigh, nothing is perfect
