DOH !!! Spoke too soon that you love the vehicle...
You'll never know for sure until you hook up to a OBDII reader and get the code. Here in states, you can go to Autozone and get a free reading, but not sure if you have equivalent up there in Canada. Worse comes to worse, go to an auto parts store, buy a cheap reader for $50, hook it up to your LS430 (port is under the dash on driver's side. If you buy the reader, it'll be the same shape as the male plug on it. A rhombus shaded thing.

Yeah, hook up a OBDII reader and you'll find out what the check engine light is on for. It will gove you the code and also state what is wrong. Many times it's a 02 sensor malfunction and the 02 sensr needs to be replaced. Check it to be sure. I carry my OBDII scanner in a trunk. Great gadget!

Reader and Errors
I think a reader in car is extreme, not that they are huge or anything, but the car will tell you if it's in drivable condition or not. A bad O2 sensor won't do much harm for short term, but a bad coil pack causing misfire can. Knowing an O2 sensor is bad in the middle of the highway... what do you do?

It quite possibly could be from not tightening your gas cap with a click or two. Especially if you just filled up recently before the light coming on. If that is the case tighten it up with a click or two and after a few cycles it will go away. If its not that then get it checked out!

Gas cap is the cheapest trigger and the one you cross your finger for, but the luck/odds of the attendant or you NOT closing until it clicks are probably slim to none. I think the failure for gas cap results more from a faulty cap than not clicking, most times.
Hey, you never know... maybe you're lucky and that's it.
