There is no room for it in the U.S., but if Toyota brings it over, I would say it would be a top of the line Toyota RWD sedan, above the Avalon, price between $35k~$45k, depends on options.

i disagree that it would be below the gs350,, in fact for some reason i strongly disagree that it would be below the gs350. what makes you think it would be below, just the engine size option (v8)?? the crown, well now that i think about it has so many freakin setups / options. i have seen sporty versions that share a lot of cue's with the gs, but i have seen some really luxurious sedan versions as well. what about the crown majesta?? the crown hybrid sells for around 50k$$ in japan so that would completely destroy the market in the U.s. in my opinion which is why they won't bring it over. it is a hybrid luxury sedan (not so much a sporty hybrid sedan like the gs450h) for under 55k, in my eyes its the step below the 600hl.
i don't know i've just always had a thing for the majesta's and would be the first in line if they ever decided to come this way. also if i ever go back to live in j-pan the hybrid or majesta would be the first car i would buy.
now i'm going to have to keep an eye out for these centuries though, i wonder how rare they are? but just about every freakin taxi looks pretty similar with the side mirrors sticking up like that and body styling.

one more question,, you say there is no room for it in the u.s. market. is this because you feel that there is a similar choice already here, and if so which one?? or is it because you don't think it will sell very well??
my wife always says that people in the states won't pay top dollar for a toyota, which i always agreed with her on, but yesterday i was looking at their website and the freakin land cruisers start at like 65k... and in my eyes this is a very nice truck, a little pricey, but nice. so i guess us peoples would spend a lot for a toyota after all.

I'm sorry... but reading up on Wiki about the Century and seeing the 2nd generation (1997 - present) photo and if this came to the states, it would be sold under Buick. No one in their right mind would buy this thing. If the magazines kill Toyota for having a vanilla LS460, they would absolutely destroy the Century for being 1984 'Back to the Future" vintage...

yeah i guess its not the outside design of the century that gets the hype. from what i know about japanese culture i would say its more of a status symbol than anything. and i'm sure the interior is very plush and elegant,,, considering.

The LS600hL got way more expensive hardwares then the Century does
The Crown is position above the Avalon and below a GS350, it would be a tough call if it would be above or below a GS350, as I think the Crown is bigger, but it only got a V6, where the GS got a V8 option.

No one wants to spend $$$$ in gas (especially in Japan) to feed the V12 car...
Did you guys know that Century can run on V6 (not utilizing V12)?

i did not know this but it does make sense from all aspects and especially with toyotas engineer team thinking of just about everything...
i would also think that most people would just ride in the back of that car, not actually drive it for themselves like you somewhat alluded to.
