For the folks who have installed the Primacy and had good results in the quietness department--
Are you getting the H- or V- rated version? I've heard different stories about this--some say V's are quieter, some say H.

Please state whether you have the Primacy HP or Primacy MXV4. Also what size tire you used. I need 18's. Thanks, I was considering the GoodYear Triple Thread, but I am having 2nd thoughts after reading the post here.

In my 35+ years of owning and modifying cars and trucks I've probably bought at least 50 sets of tires for my personal vehicles. I've learned (actually learned it pretty early on) that Michelin tires rule. My recommendation is to find the one that's best suited for the application and need at hand and buy it if you want to be the most satisfied you can be with the tire overall. There are some rare exceptions to this, but by and large I can bank on it and every time I talk myself into trying something different, or buy a car that has something other than Michelins on it, I regret it either right away, or as the tires age. My $.02.

I think people missed the original post, which was Primacy (assume MXV4) vs. Pilot Sport A/S.
These are 2 different classes,
Primacy MXV4 is classified under Regular Grand Touring,
While Pilot Sport A/S is in Ultra High Performance All-Season
The tradeoff of comfort vs. sports performance should be apparent given the classifications.
Primacy HP appears to be a Grand Touring Summer tire, but the sizing for that doesn't match up with what the OP's sizes.

Just got my Primacy 245/45/18 V rated installed from Costco for $972 (4 tires, installed with taxes). Drove about 200 miles on I-95 and am very happy as these are very quite compared to OEM Dunlops. These tires have 60,000 miles warranty with life time rotation and balancing and 5 yrs road hazard. Can't beat Costco price and service.

I'm going from a 16" rim to a 18". Based on the spec's of any 245/45/18, The sidewalls are about an inch smaller on the 18's vs the 16's. I'm trying to determine whether the ride is going to be extremely hard comparatively speaking. Do the Primacy MXH4 fit the bill for a relatively soft ride, compared to some others that are available. I do not want a 'Y' or 'Z' rated tire. I would like a tire size of 225/50/18 to get a little more sidewall, but the Primacy's are not available in that size.

Last year I put 4 brand new Michelin primacy MXV4's on my 2004 LS. Great tires, handle better in snow that stock, better in rain than stock, wear better than stock, handle better than stock. Slightly noisier on concrete pavement than stock. Get them, you will not be disappointed.
