thought about buying a secondary backup key from Ebay but never got around to it. If you go that route, make sure to post how it went, and what you had to do to program the key to your car.

Yep i bought another one last year when i got my LS, it only had one smart key. Sewell has them for a great price (my dealer was smoking some serieous ish for what they wanted) and they will cut the key with no extra charge, you just have to prove ownership. You will need to have a dealer program the key for you, try and work a deal out thru your salesman if you got your car from the dealer. Here is the link for the smartkey.

Bought a smartkey from E-Bay and could not get it to work on my LS430.. My dealer got the key part working but not the locks..
The Dealer told me that sometimes the keys will not reprogram after being programed for a former car... I noticed that the inside has different numbers than original key.
So yesterday I ordered one from Sewell down in Texas. Sent my drivers license and key code to them, and they to cut the metal key to math my car... Suppose to arrive Thursday. $109.00, ordered paint touch up and more from them...
My Dealer told me that he would program the key free, since I bought the car from him.

You'll want to get off Sewille rather than E-bay because the "original" keys on E-bay will NOT be cut and so you'll need to get cut and programmed by Lexus, which they will charge for sure. If they only had to program, then going to your local Lexus that you've done maintenance at, they might slide the $50-75 away. At Sewille, the key is less than $125 cut and shipped.
I got mine through Sewille and also got at dealer programmed for free.

Actually the key is two pieces, the metal part that unlocks the doors (blade), and the actual remote.
You can buy them separately. So if you do go through ebay, you can buy a blank blade and have the dealer cut it for you and install it on your key. You can also transfer the metal blade from your existing key to a new key (held down by one screw).
Also, once you get your ebay key, you will need to go to the dealership to have them program it for you.
Thanks for stopping by, please check the FAQ thread on top of the LS430 forums for help on this topic.
