I just spoke with the dealer on the Onyx Blue car.

Apparently, the Canadian specs are different than the US cars.
He said that in Canada, they sold what amounted to a US Custom Luxury car,
minus the navigation.
So, yes, this car has the door closers, etc.

I'm guessing he knows his specs ... his entire family drives 430's, and he used to manage
Lexus of Oakville.

I'm driving down later today ... in my beautiful rented Pontiac G5.

The spec sheet did list the ADAPTIVE CRUISE and I don't see the HIGH/LOW button, so it's a custom luxury.
No: air suspension+nav= not so expensive repair bills

Well, the 90k-100k major service is coming up.....depending how much you drive a year.

Let's see, for $16k, there's not another sedan out there than can compare. So if I'm in your shoe and being that it's slim picking, I would probably get it-make sure they fill up

EDIT: DON'T FORGET TO CHECK THE SPARE TIRE

It has a perfect spare and rim .... as per the dealership owner.
I drive about 5,000 miles per year ... that's it.
We live and work in a very small town.
I owned a LS400, model year 2000, back in 07.
I cannot find another car that compares to it, so I want the LS430.

Gas is free for me ... a perk of my job.

So, super low miler driver, free gas .... must buy an LS430.

Off I drive to Toronto now, hope the car is solid.
I'll take a few pics and post them.

Treat yourself to this if the price and mileage is good for you. I have a Canadian colleague and using the American metrics for measuring a car up in Canada are different. I've been smiling since last Sept. with my LS430 (Custom Luxury in U.S. with Nav. and ML).

Best car I've ever owned and damn if the gas mileage isn't incredible. Went down to D.C. this weekend and on my 200+ mile stretch I did 27 mpg (according to computer) on cruise control at 70-75 mph. My Integra with a 1.7L 4 banger can only manage 32 mpg on the highway...

Incredible machine.... 'nuff said.

Well, I took a road trip with my daughters tonight.
It's about a 90 minute drive with heavy Toronto traffic.

The car looked quite nice ... not perfect, but the price in our market reflects this.
The rims have the typical Canadian corrosion on the bead. Two were bad, two were quite fine. Both of my other Lexus product had some corrosion, as does my co-workers' Lexus.
I'm having the dealer refinish the rims at his expense ($600).
The back bumper has a couple of small scrapes ... dealer will blow it in.
The adaptive headlight computer has an intermittant warning light .. its not a safety certificate issue, because the actual headlights operate properly. So, there is no legal obligation to fix it, but it will be done.
Dealer to put in new computer for the lights, ($450 with labour), his expense.
New OEM rotors and pads just put in.
All of this is in the contract ... one owner car, lease return.

What sold me on the car was the driving experience. In an unfamiliar high traffic location, the car felt instantly at home. It fit me like a glove.
I took it on a winding test drive, then a freeway blast, then home. The dealer gave me the keys, mapped out an exciting route for me to take, and let me drive it on my own.
Very low key, no pressure. His showroom was full of high end luxury and sports cars. Some of them are highly tuned, one off project cars.

The car tracked perfectly, no weird oscillations, eerily quiet, shifted perfectly, all toys worked. It was an absolute dream to drive. I thought my 2000 LS400 was special ... the 430 is so much more refined.
The interior is more of a creamy, pale yellow, although it photographed as ivory. It is gorgeous against the Onyx Blue, with the birds eye maple trim.

The car did indeed have auto closers, laser(?) cruise, and most other toys.
The dealer mentioned that he had never seen this pckg without Nav ... go figure.

I didn't think I'd ever get back into a full size Lexus after selling my LS400. I regretted that sale so much, that I offered to buy it back from the dealer for a quick profit, but he kept the car for his own use ( a Mazda dealer principle). I'm thrilled to be out of my 2000 ES300 (compromise car) and into this LS430.
Living in the snowbelt, I'll be looking for tire advice come October from the board.

Here are a few snapshots ... the car had been washed, but not detailed.
Detailing is my passion. I love to work on paint imperfections with wet sanding and touch
ups. There are a few small stone chips ... much less than my other Lexus products, and I brought those cars back to life ... this one will take much less effort.

I bought the car, including all the work listed above, for $16k USD, and it has
about 70,000 miles.
With the cost of the add-ons, plus the admin fees that I refused to pay, we started off at $1500 apart.
I gave them my offer, drove off to look at an ES330 ( not really), and gave them my cell number.
They called, I answered, and a deal was struck.

Congratulations on the new car. Glad it all worked out well.

Lights: What is the exact error message in the display regarding the adaptive lights? Is it the ECS warning flashing on and off?

Tires: I've just spend this winter on Michelin X-Ice2 tires on my 18" chrome rims. Fantastic tires - I like them better than my all seasons. I actually don't want to take them off at this point.

I'm not sure which warning light was flashing.
During the test drive, there was no warning light

The dealer told me the light shows up intermittantly.
He said his it refers to the adaptive lighting, that it is almost certainly a small
computer which controls the adaptive cornering lights.
His cost on the computer is about $250CDN plus labour and tax ... he will foot the
bill.
Thanks for all of your help, guys.
Very much appreciatied.

Very nice... congrats and enjoy the ride. You won't regret it. It seems you were fine with the price and the car was in good condition. Another happy customer !!!!
