Default Your Views on the LS430 vs the Infiniti Q45 F50

I think both cars are great. I just wanted to know how any of you viewed the 2002-2005 F50/Q45 compared to the LS430?

i would prefer to drive a cim 'cimma' or 'president' which were some kick *** japanese versions of the q45 but they are not available here so comparing a stateside q45 to ls430, i think the q looks more elegant but i had 2 good friends who had them and they both had to fix a lot of stuff. i drove a nissan gloria (m35) for 2 years in japan and had to replace a few things and had some additional repairs here and there so i think the ls430 will last longer and be more worry free.

There is already a thread on this:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...fniti-f50.html

In a nut shell, the Q45 is more exciting, but way less reliable and have a much shorter life span. The entry price is lower on the Q45, but will end up to be much more expensive to own due to the much higher repair cost.

I was looking at the M45 03/04 very nice cars, but for the money I like both the LS430 and the Q45. The LS430 is hands down more reliable in my opinion, but I also like the interior styling and handling of the Q45/F50. I know the ballast tends to go out on the F50 and both the M45 and Q45 suffer from oil consumption.

i think that the M is a GS equivalent and the Q was the LS equivalent or class competitor or whatever.

No offense to any GS owners, but I liked the original GS body style much better then the second gen body style. The new GS's are pure milk, but would consider an M45 over a GS. The M45 is pure Japanese Muscle car in my book. Very nice looking car for all years. I think your right about the Q45 yet, after reading the entire thread about the comparison I'm starting to believe otherwise. Only because I don't think Nissan intended; like others mentioned, to compete with the LS430 by 2002. Nissan/Infiniti in my prospective is a hybrid of other high-end luxury cars. When it came to the F50 they tried very hard to marry the handling of the BMW with the styling of the LS, yet, on their Y33's they screwed up with trying to have a slice of the MB S-Class styling. The one Q45 model that had its own identity was the G50, especially the 94 to 95. After that it took to many design aspect from competing luxury car makers. I still like the 04-05 Q45's, but would be happy with an 02 well maintained in a heart beat.

well i for one seriously think nissan took a bunch of wrong turns and prolly right around the time that the french bought them out... the y32-y34 (maybe i like that MB styling more than i realize) are my favorite chassis. if they couldn't sell them over hear than we just don't know what good style is all about then. don't get me wrong i think the m45 is a bad *** car but not exactly my cup of tea and i can't afford one so yeah. i think its just a bad mash up conglomerate of everything they wanted it to be. i just can't wait for the new q to make its appearance cuz i think it will blow away the ls460, but they may be timing the release to match whatever the next ls is... i think there is a certain mystique to the q though cuz of the rarity and all, and i dig that. way to many ls's around.

btw is pure milk good of bad??? and i don't much care for the 3rd gen gs which is why when i sold my gs400 i went to an 05 ls rather than an 07 gs.

Yeah, pure milk is long term for milky which is a compliment when referenced in anything else but cooking...LOL. I too like the 97-01 body style of the Q45 but in all honesty it isn't better then the G50 body style and I think its shorter then the original G50. Lexus and Infiniti took body design samples from Mercedes W140 and brand. Infiniti just hopped on it quicker to appease the American style masses, and you can also see tones of the Cadillac DTS/DHS in there as well. I just personally feel Lexus did a better job at producing the Big Body style of the W140 then Infiniti did and Lexus admitted to doing so. The F50 in my opinion was the answer to Lexus's move on the big body style, while also introducing new features and interior design features which hadn't been seen prior. All in all I didn't really start out liking the F50 body style but the more I looked at it the more it made sense to me. As with the LS460; which in my prospective, Lexus wanted to take it back to the style of the LS400 and the features of the LS430.

The first gen Q45 beat the LS400 easily in performance and probably goodies too... but look at today. LS still alive and kicking, Q gone. Nuff said about which is better, the buyers have spoken and Nissan threw in the towel and threw in a light heavyweight (M) to go up against a true heavyweight (LS).

When you are looking at a premium sedan, you want things that are unique and better than other models in the line up... 97 to 01 q45 shared the same radio as a maxima!! come now ... nissan dropped the ball there!!

Other things such as power head rests... 94 Q45 has it but a 02 does not!! why?? Brakes for example.... look at the LS brakes... 4 pistons up front and 2 pistons for the rear!! When you are paying 60k to 80k for a car... you want things to be nice and set it apart from luxury cars that are 30 -40k... Q45 does not score good here except for the motor everything else is a let down!!
