Philly - not exactly just oil, tranny fluid, but I agree with you. Spending that much money for general maintenance is not my ideal, BUT my days of doing all work (ie. Belts, oilds, tranny swap, engine swap) are long over... It's so much easier to pay someone to do it and not feel my backache

Think Lynnwood. The dealership, service, barista, food and loaners are great.

Hey, I hear you. I used to DIY for service on previous vehicles but I now have an acute shortage of time these days. If I can drop my car off, have everything done at a reasonable cost and not give it any thought, I'm all for that.

OK - total charge for the 60K, trans and diff service came to just under $650 with tax.

Trans service ~$145+tax. (including $35 parts)
Diff service ~$84+tax. (including $16 parts)
60K service ~365+tax. (including $80 parts)

60K included engine air filter replacement, measure brake pad and rotor runout, inspect body, brake lines, axles, coolant, exhaust, fluids (with top off, etc), all the other standard stuff, etc, etc. Engine oil and filter replaced. Brake fluid replaced. Tires rotated and vehicle road tested. Cabin Filter wasn't replaced as I did that one previously myself.

You could argue that the diff and trans service aren't warranted. I might agree, but for the small cost involved I don't see it as a huge problem.

Exactly... you gotta pay if you wanna play. You can't buy a Lexus expecting to pay Kia prices.

Unless you can do your own maintenance, you'll never save unless you are feeling risky and want to go to a Jiffy Lube or the likes. If I did not change my own oil, chances are I would not be using synthetic, but because I can, I can afford to upgrade for the same price as having someone do a regular change for me.

Look at it like this, if you buy a house with 2 acres of grass, someone has to mow it. Either you hire someone to do it, or you do it yourself.
