Default $2,000? (for 60K service)

Does the 60k service on an ultra really run $2,000?

Got to love the rumors about how expensive service can be

Just did the 60K on my 2005 CL LS this week. This service included diff and trans fluid services at my Lexus dealer. Total expense was around $650 tax inc.

I know the debates about not servicing the trans and changing the fluid but I personally don't care. I'm covered by Lexus Platinum until 7yr\100K so if the trans blows for whatever reason I'm getting a new one for free anyway.

I paid about $850 inc. tax (at WA state Lexus dealer). The service included diff, tranny fluid. Gotta keep a good relationship with my service consultant as I've replaced air strut x1, driver's side mirror assy x1, trunk shocks x 1. new sets of brake pads etc...

I was told that the 90K service will be around $1400~$1600 at the same dealership.

Default The dreaded strut

Thanks for the correction on the 60k service.

I have one wheel that I have complained about for over a year - Lexus sent in their "senior" regional tech guy. He spent a half a day with the car, and he told me that nothing is wrong.

I feel like the patient who tells the doc that I have a symptom, I know I feel it, but he says, "we've run the tests and nothing's wrong."

He did say if it went wrong they'd help out and "do the right thing." I do expect Lexus customer service to be outstanding...if it does go wrong.

Anyone know how much the 75K service cost is? I might be trying to do this myself since my father is a mechanic vs going to the dealer.

75k is minor - just had mine done this week and it was $183.

Included fluid /filter changes, rotation and bunch of inspections. I drank at least $50 worth of coffee at the dealership so I think I got my money's worth

Here's the thing with the "60K, 75K, 90K" interval maintenance costs. It all depends on if the dealership wants to go "by the books" and replace things according to the maintenance suggestions, or if they want to perform more items as per a more "generic" maintenance schedule.

Back in 2004, my RX was coming up on 60K and I had a 2000 mile trip looking me in the face, so I want to get the 60K maintenance done ahead of time. If we went by the manual, the timing belt was 100K and the spark plugs 100K. The dealership I went to had their "generic" 60K maintenance for $2200 and the following were done:

1. timing belt.
2. spark plugs
3. coolant flush and fill
4. battery
5. rear diff fluid
6. transfer case fluid
7. brakes bled
8. filters all around
9. oil change

I was being a wimp and wanted to be assured of a safe trip, so I went for it. So, it all depends on what your dealer wants to do, and if you let them do it.

As for the LS430, I believe the belts and plugs are both good for 100K, so really up to 100K, you only need oil changes, trans. fluid drain and fill (if before 2004), rear diff. fluid, and perhaps brakes bled. All well under $2000, should all be well under $300.

Good idea. Without the details we are comparing the apple to the oranges. Where did you get your service done? Bellevue?

Anyone but me think $650, $700, $1200 is ridiculous for oil, tranny fluid etc. I know its a quality machine but damn.....For 1200 i'll put myself thru a technical mechanical school, learn how to fix it myself and charge you guys $550!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
