Default 2005 LS430 question for everyone...need advise

Hey guys, I have a 2005 LS 430 and am looking to sale it. Now my question is, what do you REALISTICALLY think I can get for it. It has 82,000 miles! I know, but it still runs great. It is NOT a Levenson, so it doesn't have the Navigation, rear cam, or the upgrade stereo. It does have all the standard equipment; leather, power, cd, and also a sunroof. I checked the NADA, and it says the "clean trade" is $19,875. From that, would $20,000 be a pretty fair asking price? Do you think I could REALLY sale it for that? Thanks for the help guys.

Best to look on Edmunds for a TMV for your car based on your local area and exact options. Also check local classifieds, autotrader, cars.com, etc for what similar cars are selling for.

i bought my 2005 w/48k (still under warranty) for $22k from a private seller... has sport rims... excellent condition...

check ebay completed listings to see what cars have sold for...

also ask dealers what they'll give you for it if you were to buy a car from them... be sure to ask what they'll give you for it FIRST, before actually making a deal on the new car...

i'd say if you want a quick sale, list it for under $20 and see what happens...

good luck!

Private seller, with 80K+ miles, and base, I would say lucky to get $20K. Expect to get offers of like $18K or lower as counter. It's up to you really to see what regionally in Alabama LS are going for. Northeast or west coast, they probably fetch a little bit more, but mid-south and base model, might be hard to sell but if the price is low and someone looking for just the basics to mod up, you might have a winner.

$18K is my answer.

+1

You will get between 18 and 20 based on your sales skills. If I was buying it I would have paid 18.

List for 22. Mention negotiable and then use your skills. Most people will offer you more than what they would offer you if you list it for 18. It is just the human behavior. In their mind discount = list price - price paid. Funny.

Among all books currently KBB trade in private party price for good condition is closest to the reality. Seems like both dealers and private parties would get this same amt. I quickly checked and it comes to $18400

How many miles do you have? Just curious.

When I was in the market a month ago I could have bought a 06 black UL with PCS and saddle for 27.5. It had 68K miles. with tax and fees it would have been 29.5.

82,000 miles.
I'm just trying to find a good asking price that I would be able to sell it at. I was thinking around $20,000, but looks more around $18,000, which is still fine with me. I would be willing to sell it around $17,000 or so, but probably no lower.

Have you listed it on Autotrader? It think it is the best place to list.

You can also try your luck on ebay. I think you don't have to pay ebay if the car does not sell but confirm before you list. For ebay you can do a start price of 16999 with no reserve. keep option open for several days. Take ton of good photos. See current listings for reference.

Base sold for 19.5 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BEAUT...3A1|240%3A1308

I think 17K is a great price for base 05. I had local seller asking same money for 02.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm not even sure i want to sell it yet, but it's just a thought.

Do you think the color will hurt me?? It is the Cypress Pearl with Cashmere. I liked the light, olive color, lol. I hear a lot of people that DON'T like it though. Anyway, thanks again!

Mods have value only to those that know and even then, only those that want.

As for color, always easier to sell the vanilla colors (black, white, silver) but you might get better money on "special" colors like yours and flint mica, for those that are looking particularly for those colors.

Selling a used car is all luck, just like selling a home. You can list for three months with no biters, but your neighbor with comparable home lists for two weeks and gets a buyer. Just the right person... at the right time.
