I am suprised by the tire pressue being reported in this thread. I have an 06 LS Ultra with Michelin MXV4+ tires mounted on the factory rims. I find anything over 33 pounds of pressure delivers a harsh ride. If I had wanted to feel the road I would have bought a BMW 7 Series.

More pressure or lower profile tires gives better handling but a harsher ride.
The only tire wear problem that I ever had was when someone put 35 psi in my LS400 and it started balding in the middle before i noticed the high air pressure. I lowered the pressure slightly below the recommended 29 and kept on going.

Baldy
Some tires just have a softer sidewall, so they may seem "flat" when in fact the pressure is fine. The perfect pressure is when the thread on the tire gets full coverage, without the sidewalls starting to flop and contact the road. The look the sidewall could look bulgy at this point and look flat.
