So i can take the cloth top part out and the car will be like stock again?

BTW the color piping seats was a must with that syle as well, i'm talking diamond tucked seats and later came the gold package. Some dealers are trying to keep this look alive when it should just die.

Yeah after you sanded down or scrapped the glue that was holding down the top, then you will need to paint the area where the top was. If you want the car that bad ask Lexus dealer to remove it (which I doubt they would) or take it to a shop that specializes in vinyl, cloth and convertibale tops. They can remove it for you, since the car is not that old the glue might still be soft not hard and brittle. If so they will use chemicals to lossen up the glue to peel it off, maybe (big one) the OEM paint will be in good shape for a nice wax n buff.

It's not the dealers trying to keep this look alive. There are people that really like these tops. I have a coworker, probably in his late 30s, that will only buy Cadillacs with a cloth top. His current car is dark blue over white. When he bought the car used a couple years ago, I asked him about the top. He said the top was an absolute requirement - the only question was what color combination it would be. Blue over white was his first choice.

it is called a "carriage top" and costs around 2k - 3k to put on. it can be done to any car if you wanted to. I work for nissan and we just delivered a maxima with this carriage top that an older customer requested. Wow was it ugly. To each their own i guess. i dont know about removing it either. im almost positive that there are mounting holes that will be left underneath. would prob be more expensive to remove it and repair the car than putting it on there in the first place.
