The freefall of used cars has slowed some what in last few months, so the "great" deals of even just late last year are not there anymore. For $31K and 51K miles, and no CPO, I'd say it's a little high, even for 2006. That's about 17K mi./year, which is a little high.

Also, looks to be a Modern Luxury edition? I would say $25-26K tops, given the "high" mileage for a 2006.

not too familiar with the previous LS line ups, but looks like it.. not really looking for custom or ultra lux.. mileage bothers me a little, but considering the clean carfax report and a lexus reliability, shouldn't be a problem for long run i think? i'll try to make that offer and see what they say, thx..

Miles mean nothing when it comes to the LS430, (built to last) I would look at the maintenance history to ensure the car was maintained via its scheduled times.

BTW it is a def a ML trim, per Alex post.

I'm not saying the overall mileage is high, I was just saying the mileage is high for a 2006. Putting on 17K per year is a little much, unless this was the family's only car, then that's fine. Too much mileage in a short time, with say you find out bad history of maintenance, could lead to some problems.

A well maintained LS is going to run you trouble free to 200K and beyond, so you have plenty of excellent life left. Like Tee said, what's more important is the maintenance history.

I would want them to include the CPO warranty for that price and mileage. Also, a shift **** would be nice.

The dealer keeps the shift **** so people won't walk off with them.

Tee is exactly right. In the tail end of 2006 I bought a 2004 Modern Luxury with a staggering 80k on the odometer for $27.5k. But it had a complete service history. 2.7 years later she's paid off and purring like a kitten @ 119k miles - I did the 90k service and have maintained her well. At the time, the 2004 cars were around 33-35k for ~ 50k in miles. So it's not too bad of a deal if it's clean and been properly maintained.

IME, how the miles were accumulated is more important than how many miles are on it. Equally maintained, I'd take a commuter's 45 MPH lifetime average speed highway car (means he spent MOST of the time at highway speeds) with 2X the miles of a soccer mom's short trips, poking-around-town-at-an-18 MPH-average-speed car any day.

If you can get the service history, and the accident free assurance from this dealer,You will get some comfort from that. As far as the mileage is concerned, (assuming the previous owner followed the maintenance schedule) It's not high for a LS. You should be O.K. until you get up to the kind of expensive timing belt change, and thats many many magnificent, silky smooth, happy motoring miles from now. It's a great car, and I hope it goes your way.

There's an Ultra in Atlanta for about the same money. It's where I bought my 2006 at Import Auto Brokers.
