For both my '03 and my '05 I looked around for a good deal on the cars that I wanted. In both cases it took about 3 months watching autotrader, cars.com and elsewhere before I found the deal I was looking for -- color combo, options, condition, and price. I ended up buying the '03 from a BMW dealer and the '05 (happened to be CPO) from a Lexus dealer. I was perfectly willing to buy from an individual as I have a number of times, but it worked out that I found the best deals from dealers, all things considered.

Driver School Candidate
I bought my 05 LS430 from a used car dealer that just about sells lease returns only. Mine was a consignment that was 2 years old with 30K miles. It was leased new from our local Lexus dealer & had all the services done there. This dealer only takes high end auto's to sell. Has more MBZ's & BMW's. They resell slower than Lexus I think. They have very few Lexus & are usually gone in just a few days. The car was perfect, 20K miles more warranty left & price was good, better than the Lexus dealers price by about $5K. It now has 55K Miles & only had one parking sensor go out & was repaired under warranty.
