New Nav 09.1 Update

Basically what you are to do is to activate the Simple Mode screen, change the deactivate setting, and then close out the Simple Mode screen. They don't tell you how to get out of the Simple Mode screen. Without proper exiting, the change fails.
Here's the step-by-step procedure to do this:
1. Activate the Simple Mode screen by opening the MD Changer screen and pressing SCANN button (on the screen) 8 times within 2 seconds.
2. Press the DISC REPEAT button to hear the long beep.
3. Now comes the part they didn't put in their instructions. You must get out of the Simple Mode. It is done just like getting into the Simple Mode. Press the SCANN button 8 times within 2 seconds. Apparently the VaisTech technicians assumed that everyone would understand that and it wasn't necessary to include in their instructions.
Be aware that the "I Agree" screen doesn't really go away. They have programmed the SL2Vi to activate the button for you after it displays for an adequate time to read it. That short wait is worth it and you quickly learn to ignore the screen during start-up.
Hope you enjoy this feature.

Someone on the RX page here:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...on-update.html
supposedly got the 9.1 and the override for that generation Nav. is still working. I'm not sure if this applies to ours though.

I got my 9.1 version today to replace my 5.1 mapping. My vaistech automatically hits the I AGREE button as before but no override feature available when car in motion... Oh well..I haven't tried to go back to install v5.1 to see if you can still do override although someone else mentioned you can't go back.
My street was on it, which is only a couple years old. I don't think my wife's v8.1 on her RX350 '09 has our street on it even then. I haven't driven around enough to see how complete it is

GEN # and data version #
Each year Lexus releases an upgrade mapping and POI data. They used data version to mark for each release. The latest data version is 9.1. You can upgrade from any data version to 9.1 without issues. Just swap out the old DVD NAV with new upgrade DVD and your nav system will be ready in minutes.
Gen# tights to the car model year. Since each year Lexus may upgrade the DVD NAV player. Each player has unique firmware/engine. So car with GEN 2/3 cannot use GEN 4 disc. Only little exception like 2008 Toyota Solara can read both GEN4 and GEN5 disc. The chart bellows can help you find the correct GEN # of your car base on the year.

Will ther ver. 9.1 eliminate or conflict with any mods on a 2004 GX470 with gen. 3 nav system? such as the bypass switch for viewing dvd while in motion and the Vais tech Ipod video componet.

I doubt that. With the navigation fuse unplugged or battery disconnected for 30 minutes after rejecting the navigation v.09.1, you've reset the navigation system. Reconnect the fuse or battery, pop in the old v.05.1 dics it should load your old stuff back.

Nav upgrade questions are frequent here. Using the SEARCH tool near the top/center of the page can work wonders! As this is the LS board, we usually tell non LS owners they're in the wrong neighborhood ..lol.
Since we're all in the Lexus family, I'll help you out. Here's a great link that will get you started. http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/imp...ion_chart.html
That is a link to one of the Club's vendors/sponsors. I think we are eligible for a discount if you identify yourself as a Club Lexus member when ordering.
But, long story short, your Nav is Generation 2/3. Click on the disk in the link above and it will put the disc in your shopping cart.
Again, use the search tool and you'll find an overwhelming amount of info regarding the navigation system in general, and the upgrade process and discs and maps, etc, as well!
Good luck.

Thanks...I had done that part of it...I know there was somewhere that actually had a map sample, where you could literally enter an area and see the map changes (or not) for that area. That is how I determined not to upgrade to Rev 8. Perhaps it is not availble for this Rev yet. Unless someone else knows......
Follow this link and enter the appropriate info...It helped me a bunch!
