Default 06 Model residual value

Hi everyone,

I recently see a local for sale notice and wonder what would be a fair value for the car. Hope to gather some ideas here. Car description is below

06 LS430 19000 miles

Mercury Metallic Silver with Black Leather interior, with Lexus Ultra Luxury Selection with Pre-Collision System, includes the following options:

-18" all season tires with chrome wheels
-Interior package with Semi Aniline Leather trim
-EMV Mark Levinson Audio/Nav System with Back-up camera
-Voice Command and Bluetooth
-Dynamic Laser Cruise Control
-Pre-collision System
-Air Suspension
-Smart Access
-Manual rear door sunshades
-Rear seat adjuster with power/slide and memory
-Intuitive Parking Assist
-Front and rear climate control seats with heat and cool **** (including massage function for rear seats)
-Rear air conditioner w/air purifier

Is this the top model that max out every possible in 2006?

The seller is asking for $36000 which seems a bit steep. But again with only 19k miles what do you guy think about the asking price?

Any opinion is appreciated!

Is this a Canadian or US car? Is this US or CA currency?

Seems like a reasonable price in the USA. Based upon my recent searches, the prices and mile for similar cars are as follows:]
2006 UL model with 50k miles are going for $34k
2005 UL model with 50k miles are going for $32k
2004 UL model with 50k miles are going for $27k

Check KBB.com and Edmunds.com for their take on it. I'd say the price is fair.

2006 ul with 19k miles on it for $36k isn't a bad deal.

Get the VIN and run that to see where the car is really from and what it's history is. That will also tell you if it's within the 4 year warranty period from it's original delivery date. Dealers never know this strangely enough and claim all sorts of things on warranty status....

These are very rare cars. You should probably check it out sooner rather than later.

For getting it back into Canada you're looking at 6% duty + GST\PST for BC. This comes to around 20% in total. Not great, but given your choice of cars here it's OK. And of course the dollar is getting higher again.

Once I obtain the VIN where should I check out the car history here in BC? I assume you are saying the database in US.

Regarding the tax I thought only PST is required for a used car. Clearly out government loves to tax whenever it is possible.

Thanks for your info.

I purchased my CL 05 LS430 in May 08 from Seattle. Imported it into Canada and went through the 6% duty then GST\PST combined so I've been through this previously. 6% duty and GST is payable at the border when you import, as is the RIV application fee of ~ $200. PST is paid when you get the vehicle titled and registered with ICBC. Canadian Tire have to inspect your car to verify it's OK, roadworthy and has daytime running lights - this also costs about $100 or so. No modifications were needed on my LS at all and I still have the car set to Miles rather thank KMs. If you want the car changed to kms it's just a simple computer setting change at your dealer.

I'd start with Carfax in getting the vehicle history. There are other services as well, but Carfax is quick and easy. Other members may have similar services they suggest. I ran through maybe 20+ car VINs on Carfax until I found a one owner, ex-lease return with no damage history. Many that were listed for sale as one owner, no damage or factory warranty didn't have any of these in reality.

As you know, you're simply not going to find any LS430s in BC listed for sale. It's already a very rare car and owners tend to hold onto these vehicles. Finding an 06 UL model in BC would be almost impossible, let alone a car in good condition. Another great reason to buy in the US is that you can get the Lexus extended warranty (if you want it) at a very reduced price.
