Window tint: Rear window film does not flush completely against rear deforster/antenn
I got the window tint done from Oasis Window tinting in Lawrenceville, GA
I love the tint but I hate the fact that the film does not flush completely against the rear defroster/antenna lines. It leave bubble lines on both sides of the rear defroster/antenna lines.
Guys there told me that Lexus has thick lines and therefore it is normal. What is your experience? Small bubble lines create a bad light refraction at night. Very annoying. How is your tint film placed against defroster lines?

after getting it done this is normal for a couple days, but if its been more than a week there should be any noticeable unless your staring at it from like an inch above and searching for imperfections. if there are a lot of noticeable ones after a week or more i would take it back and ask them to redo it.

When I see in the the rear view mirror at night, I see blurs around the defroster/antenna lines. Do you guys also see it or the rear view is as clear as without tint (minus the amount of light that would come through)

Honestly, thick or thin defroster lines, you're going to get the "bubble" along the defroster lines because the film is a flat piece of paper, it's not go to "wrap" along the edge perfectly with a line that runs along the surface of a flat surface.
With all said, my rear tint lines are visible, but not intrusive. I've had rear tint almost every car I've ever had, and it's just "normal." Nothing I know of, including heating the tint with a dryer and apply pressure will make a perfect fit.
Good job less air, bad job more air.

i don't have any blurs in mines at night. if you look at mines with a magnifying glass you might notice a couple small places where the defroster lines are slightly less than perfect and not flush against the tine and window but it does not distort the light or view at all from a foot or more away.
take it to another shop and have them look at it and tell them you were curious if they could do better and if it was supposed to happen like that. see if they are like 'man we can definitely do better than that' or 'yeah that is not supposed to happen' then take it back to the original and tell them ur prognosis and have them fix it or refund the rear window install price... this is what i would do if i were in your shoes.

There is some light scatter off thw defroster wires of our Camry and 00 LS but it is a little worse in the LS. We were told it is normal. I wonder if the amount of light scatter has something to do with tint type and darkness. Our tint is only 35% -- I wonder if it would be as noticable with darker tint.
The 90 LS I drove for (too) many years had the rare rear window retractable sunshade option so I didn't have its rear window tinted -- only the side windows. It made the car easier to back up at night. I've noticed other cars -- mainly BMW's -- with rear window sunshades that have only the side windows tinted so I wasn't being original.
If your LS430 has a working rear window sunshade, maybe you could just have the rear window tint steamed off.

I would take it back to them and have them do it again or find someone local that has an LS with tint to compare. Mine is pretty flat with very little to no air bubble at the defroster line. No glares at night and I do know what you mean by glare as I've been in some other peoples car that did not do a good job and its annoying as heck.
Have you seen their work on other cars? and if they have air gaps? The place I went to do all the local high end cars like Porches, Mercedes, and Lambos and I saw their work before I had mine done. I asked before they did it about the lines issue and they guarantee that if after they have done it and after a week later that it is still an issue, they would do it again.
PS: I'm at 35% all around.

There should not be air gaps along the lines. I've had 4 cars w/ window tint incl my LX, and none of them have any issues w/ air gaps. It's either the tint your shop is using or the installer. I use the best installer in Tucson, called The Specialists. They use formula one tint (metallic or ceramic).

I am going to try and get get some photos of rear window to show glares.

You will see a little blurring or scattering of light from headlights around the defroster lines, and that's with no air gaps. In fact, that's one thing I don't like about tint at night, plus you get all kinds of reflections on the inner side windows. That's because to avoid reflections, the tint would have to be exactly lambda/4, where lambda is the wavelength of light (this is how multi-coated/anti-reflective optics work).

The defroster wires / tint on my 00 LS look exactly like the photo DDLexus provided. I think the "gaps" on either side of the defroster wires is the clear adhesive film that holds the defroster wires to the rear window. I think the light scatter on my rear window is from this clear adhesive film holding the defroster wires to the window and not from the tint itself.
