Default How do you know which package you have?

Just purchased a 2004 LS 430. I've seen the posts here regarding packages. Is there anywhere on the documentation that speciifies what the package is?

One easy rule of thumb on what you have, or by looking at listing...

No NAV = base
Nav with no headlight washer = Modern Luxury
Nav, with headlight washer but no rear arm rest controls for A/C = Custom Luxury
All the goodies (NAV, washer, arm rest control, door sunshade, etc.) = ULTRA Luxury

Clarification:

No Nav and heated front seats only (no blue on console dials) with no perforated leather: Base

No nav and heated & cooled front seats (blue left side of console dials) with perforated leather: Permium

To me... no Nav = base. The cooled seats on the LS aren't worth a lick, so it's no premium...

Hey, you're right. According to my spelling, its a permium, not premium.

BTW, I think I've only seen one truly base unit with no bun coolers and non-perforated leather seats.

I see this often, but I disagree. I live in FL (hot a lot) and have had both light and black interiors with cooled seats. IME, the cooling worked okay in both of my cars, and passengers even noticed it with no mention from me. I think people are expecting the seats to levitate them like an air hockey table, and of course they aren't going to do that, but they do cool down and prevent sweating, which I figure was the original design intent.

I just don't think that anything that a flagship luxury vehicle should have as standard (but isn't) but is added can be called "premium" by any stretch. JMHO...

If the LS didn't have have power windows, but then it was an option and having it was a "Power" option, would it make sense?

I imagine it is an interesting process for automakers to configure option packages. It seems that many models have a car that is one step above the base that has the content that most people want without including much additional electronics.

Also, when did Lexus introduce cooled seats? I know it was available in early LS430s. LS400s? Back in 2000 it was still something rather unique.

I am also happy with my UL seat cooling/heating. Arizona is about as hot as it gets and the seat cooling is fine. Suggest that those that are not happy check their seat filters. Dirty filters do make a difference.

I've seen an LS430 without heated OR ventilated seats. They call it sub-base

Thank to everyone who answered my original post. Turns out I have the Ultra Luxury!

And I tested the seat coolers, they work great!
