Angry radio goes in and out, after replacing subwoofer

Ok when I bought my 02 LS430 the subwoofer was blown out, I replaced it with a 8" Kicker free air, 4ohms, 200 watts, but when I play my music too loud or with too much bass the sound cuts in and out..............why????.... can any one help, and I dont think it the amp over heating, cause it happens as soon as I first turn it on and up too high

you need a 8 or 12 ohm sub iirc....that 4 ohm is too much for the stock unit.

hope that helps.

Most LS430 sub are blown, I just used a glued gun and went around the woofer. Saved like $300 from buying a new one.

Just buy an amp and connect your amp to your speakers to get the music signal.

Do a search. There is a long thread called something like "Here comes the Boom" that tells how.

It really didn't help in my case. The base was still weak and sharp so I ended up buying a sub, box and amp and put them in the trunk. I removed the factory sub and the hole acts like a port to the cab.

I fixed mine too with a $4 tube of silicone glue after reading about it here.

I took mine out and ran a heavy bead around the top edge, let cure for a couple of days, and reinstalled. Sounds great.

I did the same on an Avalon. Same results.

There are a couple of threads on this: just search.

I think this is applies only on 01 UL, I have 03 CL.
I think UL has more speakers than CL. I have both 01 UL and 03 CL, and I can see UL has 1 subwoofer and 2 speakers behind the rear seats.
On the other hand, the 03 CL has only 1 subwoofer.

My 2001 UL has 1 sub behind the seats. The other two screens are air vents, not speakers. Worked for me. Four bucks
