Blue smoke @ start up
When my 06 LS sits for a week or so without being started there is a very small amount of blue smoke which comes from the tail pipes. Does anyone else experience this with their LS? In older cars this was always a sign of ring issues, blue smoke. Anyone else have knowledge to share on this?

Yep... Good question
Also one of the first symptoms of sludging. I got beaten last week for asking about sluding on LS430. Apparently it is quite unusual. So very little chances you have that specific problem. The good news it: It's easy to find out.

This is usually the result of some oil leaking down the valve guide seals, especially if the engine has been sitting for a week or more, and nothing to worry about. It can be a normal characteristic of multi valve engines.
However, if the blue smoke is excessive and oil consumption is evident, then a cylinder leak down test should be done to evaluate for ring wear. It is possible to replace the valve seals, but it is financially better to wait until it gets really bad.

I change the oil every 3,000 miles and so far have not notice any oil usage. I am keeping a close eye on this.
