Default 2004 LS 430 Nav

I just picked up my first LS 430 last night (2004 Modern Luxury - silver/black).

I have a question...is there a way to adjust the NAV's screen for nighttime viewing? It's really too bright and I couldn't find anything in the options menu.

By the way, this one has the back-up camera (I guess it was manufactured closer to 2005).

Thanks!

Congrats on your new ride but there should be a settings in there. Check the manual. I don't have the manual with me at the moment.
Mine change to nightime mode when my lights cut on. It's set to auto.

If you adjust the dimmer "****" on the left of the steering wheel, it'll do it. If you turn the **** you'll hear or feel it "click" when it's set to full brightness. Just turn it a little bit left so it's not all the way set to brightest, and you'll notice your nav screen go into night mode when it's dark outside.

Thanks! I'll give that a try tonight!

Thanks!
Congratulations!
Seems like you picked the best year and interior/exterior color.

Last night, I turned the **** to dim the NAV. It only dimmed the dashboard lights...the NAV was unaffected.

Well, back to square one. Any other suggestions?

It's in the Nav manual, but you should be able to figure out how to switch it to Automatic. Probably under the "Display" settings. I know it can be done. The dash brightness doesn't do it - it's done using the Nav screen.

The display button gives you Contrast and Brightness adjustments for the Nav screen.

Yes, but the choice to place the display in "DAY" mode (which is the mode the OP's display is in) is made by pressing OPTION, and then DISPLAY with the light switch in the OFF position. I don't know why that is, but ......

Anyway - Turn the headlight switch off, then press Option, then Display. DAY mode is then toggled (I believe) by the DAY button at the top of the screen.

ONCE you take the dimmer of the brightess settings, you will now have a new button appear on the display settings for the NAV screen .... all you have to do at this point is select the auto and you will have it dim automatically when the lights are turned on....
