I'm pretty sure the backup camera did not come into play until 2004 model year. I remember it being one of the items that made we select my '04 CL over an '03 UL.
do you know anything about this? I have an 01 UL and upgraded the NAV ecu to a Gen 4 (04-06). what do I need to do to install the cam? is it a "bolt on" upgrade? what about the camera wiring? I think there's a spot on the trunk already for the cam; above the license plate to the right.
I have the factory repair manuals, which show the diagrams where everything is located & the schematics. The nav ECU on the gen4 connects to the camera ecu (as does the camera, obviously), which is also in the trunk. The camera ecu then connects to the screen up front. The screen has an output connection back to the nav ecu for the bluetooth.

Jim, I have a 2002 LS 430 UL. As much as I LOVE the car, I really miss (1) Backup Camera (2) Blue Tooth. It sounds like, based on what you just wrote, that it is possible to get both? I assume it would entail finding a gen 4/5 Nav ECU, a Camera ECU, Nav DVD, a camera and... not sure what for blue tooth. Can you confirm this is possible and, if so, is it documented anywhere in this forum how to do this? Thanks.

If my 2002 LS 430 Has NAV- does it automatically have back up camera???
. i thought it read "no nav".
