Default How to plug in the cigarette ligher next to the shifter?

I just got an 05 LS430 w/ 46k miles and a clean carfax. Love the car but the inspector I hired before I bought the car found the cigarette lighter next to the ashtray is dead. The fuse is fine and the other two power ports are ok.

I found how to remove the center console around the stereo and I pulled off the trim piece with the seat AC/heat controls but couldn't get the panel around the shifter to come up. Do I need to lift the metal plate around the shifter first, or unscrew the two bolts in the bottom of the console under the lid?

That whole panel is held in by four pins, one at each corner. Pull the rear near cup holder first, then the front two. The silver trim around shifter will pop out once you pull the trim off. Just remember to unscrew the wood shifter **** off first.

Be careful, the plastic on the pins are sort of sensitive, so be careful not to snap them.

If you happen to need a new cigarette holder and box, I have it for sale. I removed mine and replaced it with a coin holder.

Any tips to lifting near cupholder? I have tried opening the cupholder about half-way so I can get a finger under each side. I guess I haven't pulled hard enough. Should I push on the bottom of the pin or just lift the panel near the corners? Would running string under it help?

My cigarette lighter next to the ashtray, the adapter is dead but the unit itself is working fine when hooking up a phone adapter to it. Maybe it's just the light that is not working
